Pretty much everyone who knows of bittorrent or uses it knows about this.

It was the FBI plain and simple that orchestrated this, since copyright and all that crap doesnt really have any meaning in that region of eastern europe/russia.

American Government arresting people who don`t even live in their country for crimes like DDoSing. FBI do it themselves. Gets away with it. Not cool.

It makes this Pirate-Kitty very sad!
It`s (theoretically) legal for ME as a Canadian to file-share, perhaps less so for others.

Still, the corrupt (Russia-backed) government of Ukrain wants to impose US laws on it`s citizens? Sad. Or allow it`s citizens to be attacked by forign governments? Pathetic!

Similar thing happened to The Pirate Bay: Their servers in Canada (and Mexico?) were illegally cut off and prosecutors in Sweden tried to arrest them... for breaking US laws!
Now they have MORE servers than before and made a laughing stock of the Swedish "justice" system.

Demonoid has been down before, I do hope they`ll bounce back stronger than ever!

    Just checked: Still down :-(

What is Demonoid and specially, what makes it different from the rest. For me this is like when they closed Napster. The only thing they manage with that is a million more Napster like website and services to show up

Russian Article hopefully in a translated form.
MegaUpload faced similar attacks and has shut down forever.

Do we really want the US Government telling us what we can and cannot see? These are steps along the road to a Police State - world wide version.

@Angelmassb: Demonoid is a file-sharing site. Users put up files which are hosted on their own PCs. Others come along and download them.
Demonoid was unique in that they allowed NO PORN! NONE! Which is nice if you`re actullay wanting something besides p0rn eh?

The Pirate Bay is another one, even bigger! Allows p0rn.

isoHunt searches various websites for content. Again no actual content is stored on their website.

DepositFiles Like MegaUpload actually HAVE files stored on-site. They don`t depend on peer-sharing, you can download directly from them.

Hope that I`m close to accurate, lolz! I`m FAR from an expert!

I think it`s funny how everyone is quick to point out that Demonoid didn`t allow porn, hahaha! I started using Demonoid a lot because I could usually find some of more "hard to find" older B & Grindhouse Horror films that I never saw anywhere else.

Okay, I can understand why Hollywood wants to shut down all the file-sharing services. What I don`t understand, though is why the Republican house is carrying the water for these Hollywood liberal f***tards. All they are doing is putting more money into the hands of people who will just turn around and use it against them.

I swear, sometimes Republicans can be just as stupid as Democrats.

    OldOllie

it is completely within the normal range of activity for current day republicans to try and curb freedom and most major studios are own by giant corporations.

it is not that hard to understand for most...

Wow OldOllie, just wow! I can`t tell if you`re really that naive or really that stupid. I guess OldOllie is living proof that you do start grow senile in old age.

It`s about the money, regardless of political affiliation, it`s always been about the money. The only difference is that the republicans are, for the most part, up front about it. Afterall they`re not supporting some faceless hollywood corporations, they`re supporting a person, a very, very rich person because, if I may quote a certain famous politician, corporations are people my friend and someone needs to stick up for these poor defenseless folks...right?

i didn`t even visit the site and I`m pissed about this. Does anyone else feel like we`re losing more and more freedom every day, especially in the US? I`m beginning to think we`re actually going to have to DO something as a whole to stop this. I sure as sh*t won`t let my world become an Orwellian nightmare without a fight.

Thnaks @smaus and @jendrian! The little Ninja-guy makes me laugh every time! And the cute Pirate Girl? Meow!

btjunkie is dead too? Oh man! At least isoHunt (linked below) does the same job.

@whodat: I think it`s only me mentioning that, but it`s true! I appreciated it! There were 2 huge porn sites to get (almost) all kinds of porn from. They went under a couple of years ago because streaming p0rn is easier than downloading it!!

Why is the government involved in copyright claims at all? The way those laws have always worked was that the onus of pursuing the infringer was on the claimant, so because these companies can`t catch all the infringers, they pay the government to do it for them? That`s not how copyright claims should work.
