Eh, if these were a tad bit cuter I might consider it. I haven`t worn a helmet in so many years! I think that people who don`t see a problem with helmets don`t live in a place where bicycles are widely used. They`re a pain.

It`s obvious these two girls would never want a hard mushroom shaped thing on their head they`d rather have a big o-ring around their necks.....

A lot of work just so they don`t mess up their hair. I never found a problem wearing a helmet, what`s the big deal, the chin strap is the worst of it.

Alrighty than, Does it work if the battery dies? Can it be reset and used again, or is it one shot like a car air bag.? Cause with kids, you`d go through these like crazy. Also, I doubt this would hold up at high speed impact, sure a light tumble, but not while crusing down a hill at 25mph+

Great idea, they SHOULD be proud of themselves, but I`d rather wear a helmet than a bulky dog collar/neck brace

i agree it was slow, i thought that the girl`s hat was going to be the helmet. but if you wait for it, it`s pretty awesome when you see the crash.

When the dummy got hit from behind and his head went back, im not sure it can stop the momentum of the skull and windshield colliding without bashing their skull. I`d have to see more tests first, and try it out. But in the mean time i think a solid helmet is still a good idea.

McGovern1981: what`s the story behind that gif, that`s horrible.

Wow. Amazing... for a movie about an "invisible" bicycle helmet, it took 3 out of 4 minutes before they actually showed me what the heck they invented... I agree with another commentor, start watching at 3min unless you want to watch two, stupid, ugly, self righteous, obnoxious scandinavians tell you how everyone said they couldn`t do it 300000000 times.

Start watching at 2:30 if you want to skip the 33 times they tell you that they were told it was impossible.

Havent watched the vid yet, but is this the thing with the inflatable helmer thing that comes from collar? If so, its been done already. Was on a UK tv show a few years ago with 3 university students.

Mcgovern - Those lanes are all over the place around here. They still use the car lane. Cars kick little rocks into their lane, and they don`t like the bumpy ride.

just what the world needed, 2 lesbian hipster women only interested in money doing "studies" to come out with a more uncomfortable, stupid looking, way more expensive helmet, way to go girls, you just proved women belong in the kitchen making sammiches

I dream of being the driver in McGoverns gif. I work in redmond, wa. which seems to be the capitol of bike riding a-holes. They ride like idiots, and cause so many accidents.

Since when do cyclists care what they look like? If that where true, how do you explain all the spandex. BTW, I hope any douche that wears one of these is decapitated when it fails to inflate properly.

I agree with spanerbulb.
And it`s not invisible. You have to wear a huge puffy neck thing.

I care what I look like!! I cycle 5 times a week, 5 miles each way, and unlike people going to work, I don`t have the luxury of taking a shower or changing clothes, so I tend to cycle slower (so I don`t sweat) and I HAVE to wear "normal" clothes, can`t turn up to lectures in lycra!
Helmets are too hot for me to wear...

I agree with Spannerbulb. Anyone that regularly cycles doesn`t give a crap about an unslightly helmet. I regularly turn up to work with luminous orange trousers tucked into my socks...

In theory an airbag could be re-used, you`d just have to pack it back into the collar and put a new co2 can on it.

Ordinary cycle helmets only work once too. Once it`s taken a hard knock you need a new one

All that work and resources because people are too vain to wear a drat*ing helmet! What a load of crap.

Cool idea, but if they can`t make replacement bags (airbags only work once) cheap then nobody will buy it twice.

how I ride my bike most of my crashes is from the petels touching the ground and jumping the bike tires off the ground

Welcome to The People`s Republic of Utopia! If the "future" requires me to ride a f***ing bicycle in the f***ing rain to get my f***ing groceries, I think I would welcome a nice head injury.

Interesting... though it would suck that every time you had an accident (depending on the severity) that you would likely have to replace it... But a fantastic idea all the same.

Spoiler alert: airbags for your head.

Pretty cool though! They are indeed not on your head until deployment.
