"Where doe the myth of the poor persecuted Christian come from?"

It comes from the ones that aren`t allowed to preach loudly in restaurants while people are trying to eat, or in buses while people just want to catch a nap or something on the way home. Or the ones that show up at your door asking if you`ve found jesus, or the peckerheads that leave a tract disguised as a 20$ bill instead of a tip after being demainding pricks in a restaurant.

It`s the noisy asshats that irritate everyone at every turn and get told to STFU that people have problems with. The quiet ones who just do their thing without having to add a religious reference to every sentence, nobody minds.

"ignore the history of the rainbow"

OK. You win. You are obviously being sarcastic now and making fun of how dumb religious people sound. It is painfully good mocking. I didn`t catch it at first, but that one sealed the deal. I mean that is pretty obvious. Even the Pope doesn`t believe that God invented rainbows after the flood.

"If you are Christian though, be prepared to be treated with severe disrespect for holding your faith."

Where doe the myth of the poor persecuted Christian come from? 88% of Americans identify as Christian. 97% of Congress does. Every President we have ever had has been Christian. How on Earth can an overwhelming majority play the minority card so often?

We live in a society where we are attempting to embrace the differences of others more and more. I honestly believe, that America has never been more accepting of homosexuals, and people of different race and origon. If you are Christian though, be prepared to be treated with severe disrespect for holding your faith. Me, I am an Atheist. However, I respect your right to be a Christian, if you respect my right to be an Atheist.

I thought rainbows was refracted light, through rain drops, due to differing speeds of colour, ask Prof Brian Cox, he will explain it a lot better, nowt to do with religion. Why is religion in this discussion?

It`s light refracted through water droplets in the atmosphere.

Also, you`re quoting a story in which your psycho mass-murdering god slaughtered almost everyone for not being obedient to his every whim, then said he wouldn`t do it again. Wow, awesome! What a great guy!

Protection? Yeah, like a gang leader who beats the crap out of you and burns your shop down for not paying him to "protect" you *from himself*. Only much, much worse.

TheGuySmiley,

From the link; `To corrupt the symbol of God’s covenant by associating with such a despicable and ungodly manner of life is purely vile and disgraceful.`

That clears that up.

@theguysmiley - You have your faith, and that`s fine. Don`t let anyone change your mind.

The post was just a simple joke, and you responded with bible quotes. For future reference, people get pissed when you inject YOUR religon where it dosen`t belong.

I am willing to bet that you knew that though.
Happy trolling.

@holygod: you have your preferences, i have mine.
@turdburglar: they have their preferences, i have mine.
@Fwoggie2: excellent! we should love one another, can you love me by respecting my preference of the real rainbow over a cloth rainbow?
@marcus2: thanks for your opinion, but i prefer a real rainbow over a flag rainbow any day, it`s more majestic! plust a flag is really just a piece of cloth and can get dirty and torn etc. But the real rainbow is always bright and beautiful, a rare gem!

Congratulations, you`ve just used THE most ridiculous and easily deconstructed story in the Bible to strengthen your faith. Noah`s ark? Really? You are officially a fcuking moron in the eyes of your fellow man. You should be ashamed of yourself. I`m not even going to delve into the explanation of why Noah`s ark is absolute bullsh*ite, because not even a lobotomised child would need such a thing clarifying to them.

Yeah, I often put all of my spiritual eggs in a basket that was written by Bronze age men, who did not even know that the world was round. 40 flood when no drop of rain ever fell? Really? How can people buy this kind of thing?

Matthew 22: 37-40

37 Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

You have got to be kidding me. That is like saying a mass murderer who tells you he won`t mass murder again should be praised. ANd then we should marvel at his "protection".

How can you read the great flood and come away with love and respect for God?

I prefer the real rainbow:

In Genesis 9:15-16, we read of God’s covenant with Noah and his sons, “And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth."

The rainbow is a beautiful token of God’s covenant that continues to testify of the promise that He made with the world and all flesh (Genesis 9:11-13). It is a perfect reminder of our Lord’s protection and the keeping of His promises.
