Well it happened, I was there. The fact remains that a killer could chose almost anything as a weapon. I doubt that fewer people have choked on pot brownies than regular brownies. And it is highly likely that they didn`t report it. Seriously, I had a very bad time.

Wait I take that back. I was up hiking and a guy threw up a little phlegm every ten minutes or so for an hour after smoking pot. Maybe you are allergic.

You know it`s funny, people with cancer use marijuana so that they can gain an appetite and hold down food. Your experience is the first I have ever heard of someone having the opposite effect. Maybe you live in bizzaro world. Either that or you are mixing up your story with one where you drank too much.

I was laid on my side, while unconscious and vomiting, I thank my friends for saving my life, they placed a bucket where I could vomit. Apparently you don`t know the difference between overdosing and dying. Sorry about the sheltered life you lead.

@DinVen: Righty-O! We sould move someplace safe like... NORWAY! Oh wait...
What does the "per capita" gun-homicide rate look like for Norway after that shooting? Pretty bad I`d guess...

@patch - I agree, that mass shooting would have been a huge challenge, but some people are very accurate and well trained (there were military personnel in there). I would rather have taken my chances, even if innocent people were shot, they would have been shot by the murderer.

@keith - name one place where NOBODY but the cops have guns.....it doesn`t happen. Criminals usually prefer to get their weapons illegally, anyway, because then you can`t trace it.

For all of you gun control fanatics out there, remember Hitler implemented gun control and we all know how that worked out for the Jews.

Gun control proponent = Pro-Nazi, anti-Semitic racist bigot.

Right, let`s make it so only the police have guns. Sure, it`d work in other, saner parts of the world. If we`re talking United States police officers, we`d all be safer if they all only had baby rattlers.

@johnkelley: I see your point, I was talking more-or-less exclusively about mass shootings, because in a place like a dark movie theatre you`d be much more likely to shoot an innocent person rather than the attacker. However on a non-mass shooting crime you`re right in that it`s much more likely your gun would be useful.

@markust123

I don`t know what your states are doing/not doing, but, here in Texas you must pass an FBI and State background check to purchase a weapon. You must pass those AND not be delinquent in state taxes or child support, you cannot be indicted on anything above a class c misdemeanor, you cannot have a class a or b misdemeanor in the past five years or a felony...EVER. You must not be chemically dependent and you must be capable of sound decision making, which means no rehab or anger management in your life. You must not be subject to a protective order or restraining order. Much more goes into being eligible to have a CHL...isn`t that enough? We require you have a clean record to purchase a weapon, what more do you want? I don`t like my freedoms being taken away, and taking guns away from good people CERTAINLY won`t solve the problem and/or take them from the bad people.

@Patch grabber

There are plenty of news stories where shops are being robbed and the robbers get shot by CHL Holders. Recently, a senior citizen in Miami, FL did it. Mass shootings aren`t the only times that handguns are used...legally or illegally. Kevlar doesn`t make a bullet not hurt, you can still be knocked down and it is a guarantee you will have a bruise.

@An-Egg:

As written by Judge Francis Young, part of the Drug Enforcement Administration:

"20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response."

Source.

Now I would like to know where you got 1500 pounds of marijuana and how in the hell you shoved it all down your throat in 15 minutes.

Some may not like the idea, but maybe we should have a test, sort of like you take to get a driver`s license, in order to buy guns, not just concealed carry.

It should cover basic gun handling, safety and precautions, and a separate section testing mental health. (You see a man punching a women. Do you A) Intervene and restrain the man, B) Shoot the man, C...)

For those that don`t pass, they cannot buy a firearm. Everyone that does pass can buy all standard firearms with the exception of fully automatic. Perhaps It would need to be renewed every 10-15 years to ensure the owners are still stable and knowledgeable.

I would like to note that I am a gun owner. I own both a 9mm handgun and a 22 caliber hunting rifle, so I am certainly not anti-gun. I feel like this would be a simple enough step to quell some of the gun violence and crime without preventing law-abiding owners from having access. Just a thought.

Of course, there will always be nutters that

though i personaly would advocate for stricter gun laws, it is unrealistic to think it would ban events like this. The Netherlands have pretty strict gunlaws but a dude still was able to kill a bunch of people in a shopping mall a year ago.
Thing is, the harder it is to get gun, the less you will see random incident shootings of one, maybe two victims per time,m spur of the moment like.. People going of and shooting at large groups? i fear stricter gunlaws wont stop that. often, acts like this are planned, not a spur of the moment thing.. if you can plan, you can also wait for a gun. The harder how ever, it is for these people to get a gun, the bigger the chance it isnt gonna happen. i wish i could say it would prevent it all together, but it wont.

Wiki says: "Automobile collisions with deer can impose a significant cost on the economy. In the U.S., about 1.5 million deer-vehicle collisions occur each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Those accidents cause about 150 human deaths and $1.1 billion in property damage annually.[14] The sight of deer standing motionless, caught in headlights gives rise to the phrase "deer in the headlights"

That`s all kinds of deer, but yeah, deadly!

@TruTenrMan: It depends if the MSM needs to "whip up" some anti-right fury on behalf of their Democrat masters or not.

VV lolz that`s true @An-egg! But you know what the most dangerous animal in the USA is? White Tailed Deer! (Perhaps not for deaths, but damage caused? It rules!)
a dark movie theater to a guy wearing kevlar
@patchy: He wasn`t wearing "body armour" it was an "ammo vest"... a fact the MSM has chosen to completely ignore... or correct. So in truth: NO armour, ONE bullet would have stopped his NINE MINUTE shooting spree...

Chance of dying from any kind of injury during the next year: 1 in 1,820
Chance of dying from intentional self-harm: 1 in 9,380
Chance of dying from an assault: 1 in 16,421
Chance of dying from a car accident: 1 in 18,585
Chance of dying from any kind of fall: 1 in 20,666
>>1 in 35, 714 chance of being killed with a handgun<<
Chance of dying from accidental drowning: 1 in 79,065
Chance of dying from exposure to smoke, fire, and flames: 1 in 81,524
Chance of dying in an explosion: 1 in 107,787

FFS.. Sorry to sound insensitive, but I am feeling less and less sympathy after these incidents. And more and more frustration at anyone who honestly thinks there is not some sort of problem with the types of guns available in the US.

Please understand, I am not exactly anti-gun, but some of the weapons available over there have NO place in the hands of the public.

We cant compare firearms to drug guys, I cant very well take this joint and kill you or myself with it because I`m a deranged psychopath, guns may however have a different outcome legal or not. Your trying to compare a substance that people willfully consume to a weapon intended for taking the life from a living being.

I see what you are doing here. Subconsciously you have realized that we are correct about gun laws. It is currently being buried by pride. You`ve realized we are right, so you attempt to distract us by saying something equally hot yet completely irrelevant to the current argument. That`s arguing 101, good job.

Here`s what happens when a good guy with a gun is present at a mass shooting , you can compare it with the many recent cases where they were unarmed. Not an ideal outcome for all, but certainly a much better one.

Your uninformed opinion was never tested, as guns were banned. Just like the location of every mass shooting I can think of in America. On the other hand most of the shooters were not wearing body armour.

Easy there John Wayne, I`m pretty sure your gun would have been useless in a dark movie theater to a guy wearing kevlar even if you were allowed to carry it in there. There are actually not that many cases of civilians shooting the attacker in a mass shooting, and the great majority of those who have held off an attacker got their guns from their cars after they escaped, so the notion that you could defend people in a place where there are dozens of running, screaming civilians isn`t very likely.
