"some one doesn`t know the difference between machine and a robot"

No, you apparently don`t, but good of you to admit it publicly! A robot is a machine that is guided by programming or circuitry, whether autonomous, semi-autonomous or remotely controlled. This machine clearly qualifies.

    From dictionary.com:

    1. a machine that resembles a human and does mechanical, routine tasks on command.
    2. a person who acts and responds in a mechanical, routine manner, usually subject to another`s will; automaton.
    3. any machine or mechanical device that operates automatically with humanlike skill.

    From Wikipedia:

"A robot is a mechanical device that can perform tasks automatically... Some robots require some degree of guidance, which may be done using a remote control, or with a computer interface..."

There is nothing automatic or autonomous about this thing. It drives under human control, it fires under human control. Is an RC car a robot? Is a ball launcher a robot? Are the two of them melded into one a robot?

Now if this thing were just turned on, drove itself to the mound, adjusted its trajectory and speed and fired all by itself we could talk...

I want to see a video about the robot. If it calculates pitching autonomously that`s pretty cool.

Okay lets just get this straight:

    Article

    Some parts of the article:

"Colm Boren, an engineer and mentor for the FIRST Robotics organization, said a team of about 30 teenagers spent the summer designing the robot "Cy-ber" Young from the ground up."

"It`s a robot designed to throw out the pitch. It’s about the size of a shopping cart and uses a big scuba tank as the main source of power."

"There`s a camera that`s used and the robot actually travels out to the mound on its own."

In conclusion, it really is a Robot.

I don`t understand your definition of "slamed" (is that even a word), or "everyone" for that matter since none of the other posts seem to slam me at all (or is the word "slame?")
