5cats, the parents are willing accept their child no matter what the child _is_. But that doesn`t mean they have to accept everything the child _chooses_ to be. E.g., they would be perfectly okay with their child being blond and blue eyed, but not with him choosing to be a nazi, entirely indepentently of his hair and eye color.

Besides, the cartoon would be actually _less_ funny if it said `homophobe` at the end, because it would not involve a confusion of homonyms (no pun intended) and because homeopathy is just asking to be made fun of. Both factors add to the absurdity of the situation.

Look you made me explain the joke. Please check what broke your funny bone.

Me too, and so he should. His description of it is accurate, it`s just ridiculous and flies in the face of every scientific and common sense principle known.

vv I get the feeling @Angilion doesn`t like "homeopathy" at all! ;-)

I still think the son anouncing he`s "homophobic" would actually be MORE funny than this... but it wouldn`t be "PC" eh?
The kid must be a genius to be have a Homeopathic medicine degree at such young age
If you apply homeopathic principles to homeopathy, then he certainly isn`t.

You take someone who knows something.

Then you remove as much as possible of what they know.

Then you take their resulting almost total ignorance and remove as much knowledge from it as possible.

Repeat until they know absolutely nothing at all, their mind a total void. They are now perfectly homeopathic, an absolute grand master of homeopathy.

If a homeopathic medicine degree costs more than half a dog turd and requires more time to obtain than the 10s or so necessary to click on a button, it`s a waste of money and time.

I was going to say it`s a degree in ignorance, but it`s much worse than that. It`s a degree in anti-knowledge.
I guess I don`t get it because this isn`t funny at all. It actually doesn`t make any sense. Does the writer even understand the meaning of that word?
It makes sense.

Interpretation 1: The target is homeopathy. The underlying idea is that homeopathy is totally unacceptable. The play on words/ideas is with homosexuality, obviously.

Interpretation 2: The target is the parents, probably intended to symbolise a group of people. The underlying idea is that rejection of homeopathy is an irrational prejudice as unjust as rejection of homosexuality.

I`d be pissed at my son too. Most people don`t know what homeopath means, it doesn`t mean "natural", it`s snake oil, where you shake out the energy of a medicine that creates the same symptoms of your illness, dilute it into water and the medicine`s vibrations stay behind in said water to cure you...seriously. It`s dumb quackery at it`s finest, read it here if you don`t believe me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeopathy

I grew up on homeopathic medicine. However my mother was never dumb enough to not give me real medicine as well.
