He didn`t seem to understand that the officer had to inspect the weapon to make sure it was not fully automatic, and that he had the authority to do so.

Haha the cops knew better than him, called him out and the kid got stuck for words.

It`s pretty obvious the kid was trying to make a viral video and it backfired on him big time.

That cop was really cool throughout the whole thing. The cameraman was very obviously a prick walking around with his weapon out, hoping to be detained so he could piss off the cop and put it online.

People tend to be very opportunistic when recording situations like this.

It the ones who do things like this to bait and harrass the police that cause them to become jaded over time and start treating everyone in a less professional manner. This officer is an outstanding professional and the people of this community should feel a little safer from the punks taking the video.

I think that officer`s conduct and method were exemplary! He was polite and knowledgeable and did his job well. Unfortunately, the same can`t always be said for all officers in all situations, but this guy demonstrated himself to be a professional and a respectable person of authority. Bravo.

Didn`t watch to the end - the kids were just being dicks.

However 10/10 to the cops for handling that perfectly. Really cool.

Lastly - what possible right or need has been taken totally out of context to still allow a prick like that to carry or even own a weapon like that and be able to carry it, loaded, in public. Damn right there have been concerned calls.

This video should be used as evidence of why the person should not be granted the right to carry a loaded weapon.

What a bunch of tools. Here I would actually like to see police harass these kids. Seattle police shoot John T. Williams to death for having a wood carving knife in his hand. Milton Hall is shot 46 times for holding a knife. These two twats can walk up and down a street carrying semi-auto carbines and cops ask them to join their reserve program where they would just issue them a fully automatic weapon.

What a little prick. Hey bung hole, people are nervous about getting shot because...HELLO...there are psychos going around just shooting people for no good reason. So you decide to exercise your right to carry, fine. But if a cop stops you and asks politely to examine your chopper just let him. Then you`ll be on your way. By gabbing on and on you`re only detaining yourself.

I`m all for packin` heat. Just use better judgement in how you go about doing it.

That officer needs a promotion for dealing with those idiots. I hate people like that.

Yes it is your right to carry, but since semi-auto and fully auto look the same it is reasonable suspicion of a violation of a law.

No, it justifies a paycheck. Not a raise. What the cop did was nothing amazing. Any officer that can`t handle themselves in that manner should have their badges taken from them.

It`s a sad state of affairs when a cop doing as he should gets special recognition for doing his job. `oh mah gawd that cop so amazing.` No, he wasn`t. Take your rose tinted glasses off, iab.

why are these guys pushing this issue? these cops are doing exactly what you would want them to do, inspecting and returning the property to the owner.

the cops are not being dicks, they are not detaining, taking them to the station or throwing them on the ground.

an officer with reasonable cause can check a firearm to make sure that it is legal...let`s not discourage them from doing this because all it does is PROVE that law abiding citizens are not breaking the law and are carrying legal weapons.

I agree with some of the other comments made here, all police officers should act in the way that officer did.

If as in this case a citizen doesn`t understand the rights that an officer has or doesn`t understand the reasoning behind an officers actions then it is the officers duty to educate the individual, not get heavy handed and reach for their taser/firearm etc as we so often see in these videos.

This video should be used as a training video for new officers to show them the correct way to deal with a situation.

Telling the cop there is a better way to park his car was a huge douche move. The cop had his car there to move the traffic away from the guy if he became hostile.

Someone called a cop cause they saw the guy walking around with what looks to the plain eye to be an automatic submachine gun. It wasn`t. The cop double checked without seizing or confiscating anything. No problems whatsoever. The guy with the camera did seem very defensive, expecting to run into the average high-school bully with a badge, but he didn`t.

I realize the predominant age range of traffic to this site is 25 years of age and under. With that being said. Most people in the U.S.A. do NOT understand that an American citizen is allowed to carry a firearm, at ANY time on these lands. It IS a constitutional right that many Americans do NOT understand. I for one am very glad that there are people out there that are making these video documentaries about such rights. Neither the police or the citizen in this video are being jerks are a-holes in anwyay. They are informing people of those rights. Good for them, and good for the person posting this. No reason to insult intelligent, informative, and helpful citizens. I wish for more people to be this informed and for less people to be so criticizing of such rights in the U.S.A.. Understand your rights. Remember The Constitution.

@Huey: Yes, the U.S.A does allow citizens to carry weapons, but laws vary from state to state.

Make sure you know the laws in each state before carrying any weapon. In my state it would have been ILLEGAL for them to walk around with that gun out in the open. The state I live in only allows you to carry a weapon in public places if it is concealed and you may only carry handguns in public.

Everyone praising the guy who recorded the video doesn`t realize that this isn`t the first, second, third, fourth, or even fifth time he has done exactly this.

He goes out carrying a large gun (usually a hunting rifle or shotgun), waits for someone to call the cops, and then records it while making it as difficult for the police that show up. He`s a douchebag.

Those two kids are clearly just a couple of tools who are trying to get their 15 mins of fame. That`s obviously not the reaction they were looking for because you can hear once the kid realizes the cop knows his sh*t and is handling the situation EXACTLY the way it should be handled (by asking to inspect the weapon to make sure it`s only semi-auto) the kid starts stumbling & mumbling over his words. They need to find a new hobby.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Yes, the person videotaping this encounter was looking for trouble. Yes, the police officer was doing his job, and rather better than most. No, there is no law anywhere prohibiting anyone from being an ahole. The videotaper is exposing public officials both disobeying and carefully obeying the law. Kudos to him and kudos to the officer in this video.

That kid didn`t know s*** about his rights. He butchered the law regarding illegal terry stops and "search and seizure." is bloody stupid. You really need to get some perspective on guns, if you think you need one then have one, fine. But some control would be a good idea.

I`m not sure I understand why a semi-automatic weapon is so less dangerous than an automatic weapon. I don`t remember any recent US massacres being carried out with automatic weapons. The rest of the world must look at this and think we are totally nuts. I know I have a constitutional right to a gun, but frankly I don`t see why I should ever need one in a civilized country.
