@Jamie, most times when people say stuff like "British American," I see it as they literally had to walk off a boat (or airplane) to get here. African American feels like they came from Africa, maybe within three or so generations, but truth is, it`s like calling the descendants of the first settlers British American to me. Sure, they came from there, but then aren`t we all African in some form if you put it that way? Few thousand years. No biggie.

Irish-American, British-American German-American are all okay to say but when you say African-American or Mexican-American white people start yelling, "Why aren`t you just American?!"
