deathxtra: "So how was she able to be decently educated and learn to write correctly without their parents knowing?"

My twin 11 year old niece and nephew are Autistic. My oldest son is Aspergers (the old definition). I have tested on the Spectrum as well, though since it was discovered well after I reached adulthood, they really don`t "count" it as Autism/ Aspergers now. I can say with certainty that this is not beyond the realm of possibility for an Autistic child to do. Statements like this, even if well-meant, only further the harmful and false stereotypes that Autistic people face every day.

Skip to 3:15. Everything before that is: her life sucks, her parents don`t give up and she can`t communicate.

I was waiting for the twist, where she types, "please get me a gun. I have so much work to do."

@Zeegrr--she`s typing herself--there is no facilitator. Check out the link for Carly`s Voice three posts down.

Is she typing by herself? Or is there a "fa`cilitator"? If she`s doing it on her own=Awesome. If not-just another scam.

@bigfatdynamo: I wish you and your family the best and I am glad that this story is giving you hope.
@RobSwindol: You see this amazing story of a person`s mind being unlocked, of her and her family`s new life and of potential insight into one of the most mysterious medical conditions that there are and all you can say is "Repost"? Really?

What a powerful and inspiring story! My wife and I are dealing with something similar in our son, Brian (not the one in my avatar). He is three right now and doesn`t speak a word. But he grunts and uses his hands to communicate. He`s had a hard time learning sign language, but we`re not stopping! Thank you, Carly! Thank you for inspiring parents like myself!
