Older zombies maybe, but more modern zombies (based more on things that might actually happen instead of just being scary), wouldn`t be able to get through. Though they are strong its less truly `super human`, and more they`re not limited by fatigue and pain, so if anything it would be persistence. But I agree about the vampires >> you`d think someone making the cages would realize that. But maybe if they didn`t neither would their vampire selves lol.

this could just be me but...zombies and vamps have super human strength anyway right? otherwise they couldn`t...you know...dig through 6 feet of dirt and gravel? im sure a bit of metal wouldn`t slow them down too much...a vampire, just by default of being able to use his brain, would probably bypass trying to break free and just dig under it anyway...

Get in that grave... and STAY THERE!

I`d agree: it`s to keep robbers out.

True Ferdyfred that its to stop graverobbers(The resurrectionists) getting in, as they would sell the body to anatomists to dissect for classes as bodies were in short supply so plenty money in it!, but Burke and Hare never did it, not once. They murdered, and never dug up a grave in their lives!

wouldn`t cremation be a whole-lot-easier-to-accomplish solution?

That iron looks awfully fresh. No rust nor any signs of aging.

It couldn`t be trickery, so it must be M A G I C !

I think if they`re strong enough to push that big block of granite off, then a little cage of metal is going to be no trouble!

False. It is a Mortsafe. A device invented in 18th century to deter grave robbers.

I would think that it was to protect against grave robbers getting in not corpses getting out.
