Not really Andrew, just what I call humour is generally slightly (to highly) offensive. A lot of the UK is pretty shoddy like any city.. Though driving towards Portland, Dorset was wierd yesterday.. took a while to click.. it wasnt just that it was *sunny* but that it was so clean. Obviously litter picking pre olympics is in full operation.

As for Detroit.. only ever driven past it.. but the people in ohio were lovely (mostly Canadians.. there I go again)

I agree, they should have called it "Deutsch Schule"

@Lordjim, if you`re right then fair enough but I think it`s fair to say that he`s pandering to the American public nonetheless.

It would take an american to believe that a sign for a school in germany would say "German school" *slow clap*

`I know what I`m talking about. `

Hence mistaking SA for England.

But I`m glad you think England is lovely. Particularly lovely this evening, actually, as summer might finally have arrived.

Firstly, I lived in England, Germany, and Belgium so I know what I`m talking about. Secondly, don`t be so defensive. It seems that America is the only country it`s ok to make fun of. Get over yourself, your country is not as clean and orderly as Germany. I do think it`s lovely though.

And anyways, I looked it up and this picture is in SOUTH AFRICA. So you agree with the dilapidation now that it`s not your own country?

And yes, Detroit is absolutely dilapidated. That`s what happens when 3rd world workers are willing to work for a fraction of the cost and your entire industrial base leaves, condemning once prosperous cities to poverty. Are you trying to offend me?

Sorry LJ we crossed posts - have you not been to America? They don`t call it Dilapidation over there, they call it Detroit. (jk)

@Andrew155
I don`t think it is in England, because over here, the numberplates on the backs of cars are yellow (as a general rule) and that looks white to me.

Not England. We have schools for the dumb, but we draw the lines at Germans. (jk)

Plates on car are wrong. We can park. No graffiti.

Andrew155 - you fail sir.

No, not England. I think `German School` is a bit like the British Council. A sort of cultural/educational semi-governmental programme to convince foreigners that they should look at things from our point of view and send students to our universities because we need the money. But we`ll still mess with you at immigration.

Also, I`m touchy but is England really the only pace in the world with areas that are slightly dilapadated?

But good post.

Gerry misspelled `consistant` to negate his misspelling of `krout` which should be `kraut`.

That aside, his use of the word consistent is quite correct.

Hi Gerry, a grammar-nazi comment:

*consistent or *constant

(pun intended)

besides, i also think that several people in the UK are known to love using WWII symbolism

England. Because of the English. And also the car on the left side and slight dilapidatedness of the area.

Here we go again.
At least the krouts are consistant.

@Buiadh That and it seems somewhat redundant for a school in Germany to be called "German School"

Going to take a stab that this is not in Germany.

What with it being in English and all.

Yeah, I don`t think the Germans have signs with "German" School...Probably just `School` or even `Schule`!?
Must be another country.

Signs make me think of England
