My 7 year old asked what the floppy disk was and I had to say "It was a USB drive from when I was a kid"

There are only about 3 pictures of an imagined future. The rest were of the extant technology of the day.

In 1985 we were proud we`ve had the first computerclass in the area. With Philips P2000 computers... (They were already old that days ;-) )

Angelmassh:
I kept all this stuff for ages. The DOS1 stuff. The DOS2, DOS6, The 5 1/4 drives, the dragon stuff. commodore stuff. Bloody tons of it, in the hope that it may be worth a lot of dosh. I could flog it and make a fortune!
I contacted several IT museums. They had too much, and were throwing the surplus away.
On e-boy folk were paying less than scrap price.
Ten years later, nothing has changed, it is still worth the scrap price and no more. Anyone want a Calcomp Drawingboard II? Calcomp pace-setter plotter? best that there was in it`s day!
I shall use the plotter mount to support the drawingboard II. Autocad 10 complete factory pack available free before I bin it.
The truth is, that once you have flushed the lavatory, you do not need to remember what you had for dinner the previous day.
Gone.

I`m saving some of my dads old disk, including this collection of 4 5 1/4`` MS-DOS 6.0 disks and 3 1/2`` Windows 3.1 installation disk. All them original disks in their original package.

What a horrible horrible caption fail. Good lord. This isn`t what people in the 80`s thought the future would look like, idiot. This is what technology IN THE 80`S looked like.

This post was interesting, but some of those photos are FAIL!
Reel-to-Reel tapes were 60`s not "the future".
But oh the nostalgia at seeing a dot matrix printer! Noisy damn things!

If you want to see the future, watch Star Trek. They predicted computer voice interface, ipads, cell phones, advanced medical scanners.... etc.

Tech was clunkier 30 years ago? Still have my old Walkman though, got Steve Miller loaded and ready to go.

Again, these are just photos of tech. from the day. Nothing to do with future predictions.

Just a bunch of Trash-80`s and Apple II`s, don`t think that was anybody`s vision the future. Maybe a Radio Shack salesman`s vision of the future

indeed. caption fail. Only 2 photo`s were forward projections.. and Reagan defining the era?

sort of.. i guess..

Looks like 30 pics from an office in 1983. Not the future as imagined at the time.

Pretty sure 99% of those photos dont show what they though the future would look like. They seem to just show state of the art computers back then.
