I feel for my conservative friends. They have a not-Obama candidate. Just like Liberals had a not-Bush candidate in John Kerry. It is very hard to win an election when your people are voting to not have four more years of the other guy instead of voting for you.

I`m more inclined to vote for Obama than Romney in this election. That may change, but it`s how I`m leaning now.

However, I don`t think this is a good ad - and I think it`s the wrong focus for any political campaign.

Obama should instead be hitting Romney on the seeming lack of details in his own plans for the country`s governance. Romney, in turn, should be hitting Obama on the latter`s policies and the effect of those policies.

It`s all about policy, people. In the end, that`s all that matters.

If he was doing it to gain points from the far right then yes it showed balls. If not, it showed stupidity or at the very least poor insight or judgement. You don`t use the term Obamacare in front of a black audience. What kind of an embarrassment is he going to be when talking to other nations if he doesn`t understand something as glaringly simple as this?

@auburnjunky That happened to me a while back. I didn`t want to give up my nice tactile-click keyboard, so I stole the switch from under the Sleep button (which I never use) used it to replace the broken switch under the space bar.

Till you get around to that, though, you can always copy a space to your clipboard and use <Ctrl>V to enter a space.

You would rather he blow smoke up their asses and lie? (oh yeah, that`s what they are used to with Obama.)

He went and told them a platform that, while unpopular with that group, has massive amounts of popularity with American`s in general.

If he had gone to the NAACP and said, "I feel your pain" he would have lost a lot of respect.

@aj: To type a space without using the spacebar, hold down the "ALT" Key, and type "3" then "2" on your keypad (make sure Numlock is enabled), then let go of the ALT key. You can type any ASCII character using this method, and, since 32 is the ASCII code for "spacebar", it types a space when the number you enter is "32". Don`t say I`m not good to you.

OK, how about the Magna Cum Laude from Harvard? Doesn`t that adequately substantiate that his grades must have been pretty OK?

You call Chavez a dictator? Really? I don`t know terribly much about him but isn`t he an extremely popular leader that was freely elected in a fair election by a wide majority? I don`t remember hearing any accusations of corruption or anything.

the Magna Cum Laude from Harvard?
He only got into Harvard because of his skin colour. Of course I cannot "prove" that but the evidence is quite strong. And the actual proof is sealed...

"Physics of Basketweaving" a "joke course" designed to give the students high marks while actually learning very little. Since his transcripts are sealed we don`t know if he took "real" courses or "idiot" ones do we? George Bush had good grades too, didn`t stop any lefties from insulting him did it?

I`m just asking if anyone is really for him (Romney).
He`s the Republican candidate: if you support the Republican Party you also support Romney.

MeGrendel, the point is that, although it may be his position, he should have known that it wasn`t a popular position amongst that specific crowd. It`s just stupid (if his goal is to persuade them to vote for him, anyway) to bring up something that is unpopular for that crowd when he could have easily just not mentioned it (which wouldn`t have made him a liar or a flip flopper).

Do you really not see how misspelling Israel on a random post about a fundraiser is much different than misspelling America on a designed graphic intended for mass consumption that probably went through an approval process?

I mean step out of the Conservative / Liberal dog fight mentality and just realize those are two completely different degrees of f.uckup.

LillianDulci- "he should have known that it wasn`t a popular position amongst that specific crowd. It`s just stupid "

He already knew it wouldn`t be popular there, but he stated it anyway. He didn`t avoid it, he didn`t waffle, he didn`t hem & haw. That`s the definition of character, not stupidity. Every speech is not about placating that particular audience.

@5Cats, I`m not really ragging the administration for the typo. Being from a graphic design background I`m familiar with exactly how easy it is to commit a typo, and miss it in proofing. Nor do I think the administration oversaw this particular publication. My point was the reaction to similar instances on both sides would be covered equally.

Actually I do see them as similiar. As I mentioned in the previous post, typos are easy to do and easy to miss. Nor do I think Obama, nor Romney, personally oversaw the creation of either. Romney`s was done by a web-designer, Obama`s by this organization.

So neither is representative of the intelligence of either.

The only REAL difference I see between these is how they are reported in the media.

But if you want to rank them based on importance, I`d say that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presenting Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a red "reset button" to symbolize improved ties, but misspelling "reset" and presenting a red button that says "overcharge" would outrank either "Isreal" or "Amercia" in incompetence.

    Absolutely.

Romney`s was done by a web-designer, Obama`s by this organization.
I differ here. It probably took a team of people to put those Romney graphics together and approve it. The Obama post was probably just one person updating a page with event info.

So neither is representative of the intelligence of either.
    Absolutely agreed.

But if you can`t see the difference between misspelling your own country vs. a foreign one, a team missing a typo vs just a person or two, missing it on something for distribution and mass consumption vs. a post few people would really see, and a large headline vs. a word in a line of copy than I don`t know what to tell you. They are different. Way different. Neither one is indicative of anything. Nor really news. But one is a massive and ironic f.

Obama obviously doesn`t get how jobs are created. They won`t work here, so all jobs MUST be shipped overseas. Not until we do away with minimum wage. The smartest and richest of business men would pay you less, but that would be illegal! Until we fix that, the jobs are gone and aren`t coming back.

$6 dollars an hour, for 40 hours a week, for 52 weeks in a year = $12,480. Awesome! Let`s have a country where Rich-Guy keith2 can get richer surrounding himself by an army of angry poor people employees. They`ll agree with his economic view. They`ll say, "Boy, that keith2, with his `smartest and richest of business men` thinking, he MUST have my best interests in mind! I`ll vote for the guy who wants my cousin and sister to make less money so that keith2 can decide to keep my job in America! What a fuc*ing Patriot!"

Yeah, and became editor of the Harvard Law Review, and fricken President of the United States, all because he was black.

America. You are talking about America, home of the KKK and the Confederacy. Home of the Jim Crow law and state-sanctioned segregation until 1964.

Obama fu*cking won Virginia, Ohio, and Florida. Don`t minimize his education when his record blows your bullcrap affirmative action argument out of the water.

You won`t accept it, but Obama is master politician with sure convictions who does what he says. He worked your asses with Obamacare - legislatively and in the Courts. He is DESTROYING Romney on the Bain Capital issue - yeah, signing SEC filings as "sole owner, CEO, and president" until 2002 really squares with the "I had no involvement with outsourcing at Bain in 2000-2002" line.

However, sarcasm aside, the jobs aren`t coming back because not only do China and India have a labor force who are willing to work for next to free, both of those countries have many more engineers and scientists per capita than the U.S. If you want my real opinion, the real way out of this mess is education, education, and more education! I`m talking about the hard stuff. I have faith in the generation growing up on internet, because I see more and more of the younger generation calling each other out on stupidity and ignorance of facts online and more kids who want to be smarter than the rest. Engineering and science are becoming more and more appealing to our youth. This is what might save us from our own destruction.

And since this is the most recent "War for the White House" thread I see, let me add a dumb prediction.

Bain Capital sounds like the badguy from Batman this summer. Everyone will see Batman. Bane will be a bad name. Romney was the sole owner, CEO, and President of Bain Capital. People who know nothing of politics won`t like that. And there are a LOT of those who vote. Just keep saying "Bane" and "Romney" together.

"I feel for my conservative friends. They have a not-Obama candidate. Just like Liberals had a not-Bush candidate in John Kerry. It is very hard to win an election when your people are voting to not have four more years of the other guy instead of voting for you."

This is actually very true. I had this in Kerry. It sucked.

To the people who are saying it was fine for Mitt to tell the NAACP audience that he would eliminate Obamacare, I don`t think you quite understand or you are spinning this one on purpose. What the audience was upset with is Mitt`s use of the negative term that conservatives created to personally attack Obama on his Health Care Reform "Obamacare". You don`t use the negative term Obamacare in front of a black audience if you want to win back some of the 90% from Obama. If he would have used the actual name of the reform he would have been fine. I question his judgement in something so glaringly obvious.

    2. Now you are really comparing misspelling a word in a foreign language to misspelling your own country?
@HolyGod: The #3 person in the USA (more or less) presents a token/gift to the #2 Superpower IN THE WORLD and it`s F-ING SPELLED WRONG?
YES! That is 100X MORE dratted up than a tiny typo on a candidate`s web page (or wherever it was).

In diplomatic terms it was a slap in the face with a cold flounder...

    @ultimakewl considering romney is both
i think it speaks the worst for him
Man, you failed HARD on that one. Did you even READ the question? The reason people have foreign bank accounts is that the IRS confiscates a huge chunk of the money you earn overseas if you are stupid enough to bring it back into the US. Are you saying, then, that Romney PERSONALLY wrote those idiotic tax laws and got them into to the IRS code all by himself without approval of congress or the president?

You call Chavez a dictator? Really? I don`t know terribly much about him but isn`t he an extremely popular leader that was freely elected in a fair election by a wide majority?
So was Hitler. What`s you`re point?

MSNBC calls it Obamacare. What`s wrong with it?

Also, Chavez is a ruthless dictator that killed dissenters when he gained power. The people cower in fear of him.

    "MSNBC calls it Obamacare."

I guess MSNBC doesn`t have as good a memory as the African American community.

@HolyGod: You truely know NOTHING about Hugo Chavez my friend!
Saddam Hussain won "free and fair elections" with 99.5% of the vote!
Fidel Castro won "free and fair" elections all the time! Of course anyone who tried to run against him was thrown in jail...
    & etc.

@HolyGod try a little "wiki-wisdom" before saying something as BLINDLY STUPID as that, eh?

Agreed, and by the `hard stuff` you mean engineering, math, science, etc. No more `women`s studies` or `aboriginal macrame pot-holder` degrees. If you graduated with a degree in Mime, then you deserve to deliver pizzas for the rest of your life.

@MeGrendel: Exactly. STEM majors have been on the decline in the US for a while now.

STEM majors are harder than their artsy counterparts, plain and simple, but why are so many students taking these useless degrees when they must know they aren`t getting hired with them?
