jendrian,

You`re either a complete troll or you were dropped on your head when you were a child.

haha whatever, I didn`t think it was all that great, other countries have done better. It wasn`t terrible, it just wasn`t awesome.

Kind of symbolizes the impending collapse of Europe.

I thought London did a good job with the opening ceremony. It wasn`t as insane as Beijing, but nothing will ever amount to what they did. London`s was good in a completely different way.

@Jendrian the NHS is there for the patients, not the doctors

a quiditch match would have been cool thou

Jendrian... out of those suggestions I do agree with the quiditch match idea. That would have been more impressive than the voldemort.

As for the NHS, why not show patients? That demonstrates what the NHS is there for far more than just wheeling out some doctors and nurses.

@Listypoos: For starters, to celebrate the NHS I would`ve displayed doctors, nurses, ambulances, etc, instead of sick people. To celebrate literature, I agree Harry Potter is big, but a giant Voldemort? Wouldn`t a flying quidditch match be way, way more impressive and sports-directed?

I don`t think you can celebrate military accomplishments inside sports, that`s just dumb. Imagine a reenactment of the US civil war as the half-time show in a basketball or football game. Instead of that, why not show off skills from their elite forces. The James Bond bit was cool, they could`ve elaborated on that instead of having 5 min of Bond walking, 4 min of establishing shots of a helicopter, and 2 sec of the queen jumping off of it.

See? Me, a mere mortal, can think of way cooler things off the top of my head. It wasn`t terrible, but compare this opening ceremony to China`s, Athen`s, Sydney ... they were all pretty great, this one... not so much

I`d rather watch an interview of Phelps, than 8 min. of interpretive dance. I couldn`t see how the dance or song related to 7/7. I`m with NBC on this one.

@Jendrian, I was kinda hoping they would make a mess of it...but from what I saw they didn`t. And most comments I`ve seen today from non-brits on various news sites said they thought it was good. What do you mean they dropped the ball? What would you have done different had you been qualified enough to have been in charge of putting it together?

well it`s all grim sh*t the UK has done, except for perhaps Voldemort and Mary Poppins.

Everything else was sick people, the horrible episode of children chimney sweepers, wars and dead people. Way to start a worldwide sporting competition.

Really, jendrian? I enjoyed it, at least the first half. The industrial revolution and NHS segments were outstanding. It fact, it was a bloody good show.
