I strongly encourage anyone who is interested by this theory to look deeper into it. When I realized death was an illusion for my self my entire outlook on life changed for the better.

After the death of his old friend, Albert Einstein said “Now Besso has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us … know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”

New evidence continues to suggest that Einstein was right – death is an illusion.

lost me right about there...Einstein is talking about a universal flow time being the illusion, not death itself

Yep, all those know-it-all types laugh as religion but are, even as we speak, inventing a weird "scientific" religion, devoid of ethical content but containing both a supreme being (the "conscious" universe) and an afterlife.

This blew my damn mind, and I feel like I`m the only one here who understood it. Honestly the title of the article is misleading. This is about the nature of the universe and consciousness itself. In a shallow religious metaphor, you could say he`s making the point that our consciousness IS God.

Interesting thought.. But the man is a medical doctor with, as far as i can see, no training in physics, yet he throws around quantum physics with only partial understanding. Especially "observer-dependent".

However, the biggest hole in his theory is that experiments strongly indicate that free will is just an illusion, and thus consciousness is just a fabrication of our brain cells.

Life and death may be an illusion, but that definitely is an ad. I can deduct from that, that the writer needs to sell books, there fore he needs to make money, but you need money to live. Since we already know that living and dying is an illusion, then the ad must be an illusion. Now it all makes sense.

    Doesn`t really matter.
Likely I will experience something similar to what I was experiencing before I was born. If nonexistence even is an experience that is.
The thing is how you react to not existing. And that`s where people can exploit your fears. I presume there would be a way for those kinds of people to exploit ones readiness to die also, perhaps it`s done with warfare.

I don`t find death very sad or scary.
I do find life sold and people tricked sad.

So...if we don`t look at the Universe, it doesn`t exist? Hmm...But how is there a universe at all? If time and space are illusions, how does anything exist? Nobody but me exists. I sure created a crappy economy. I`m sorry.

Death is simply when consciousness returns to the inorganic matter it was before. Like turning off a machine. Our perceptions dont determine reality, rather what we believe to be reality. This is like that stupid `if a tree falls down in a forest and nobody is around to hear it, did it make a sound?` argument. Of course it did. Same goes with the universe. The laws of physics and universe as a whole will exist with out without our consciousness, and in the same manner.

    Recipe for Death Denial:
Squeeze science for the juice and discard the rest.
Add a heap of wishful thinking.
Add a chilled lump of fear of the unknown.
    Mix until unrecognizable.
Remove marbles from one brain and marinate in the above mixture until senseless babble rises to the top.

This is nonsensical philosophical babbling. Changing cells so the sky appears red? Mmhmm, except that cones in your eyes respond to different wavelengths of light, corresponding to the actual colour you see. As long as your cones and rods are functioning correctly you see the same colour every time. If they are not functioning correctly it doesn`t mean you see red where blue should be, just that you are colourblind and see a similar shade for multiple colours.

even if there is a life force inside of us that can transcend to a parallel universe when your body ceases to support it, logically you would still not experience life after death. all of your memories, your genetic code for your personality, and everything you have ever identified with would be gone. you simply would not be you anymore. it is like taking a battery out of a phone. that battery is not the phone, it is nothing like the phone. and if you could fit it in another device, it would still never be that phone. that phone would be dead until another battery was put in. and unfortunately there is not extra battery for our bodies. but this is beautiful because it makes our fleeting existence that much more fragile and precious.
