A flame is extinguished by an acoustic field generated by speakers on either side of the flame.

now they just need to get the non-nice individuals that drive through my neighborhood at 4am blaring their stereos to go to california and circle that wild fire and crank it up....

at worst they`ll get burned up and i don`t have to get woken up again..

Well, if it works in a laboratory, it might well work in an enclosed ship, submarine, aircraft roosterpit, etc. See more info on it here at this linky. Very cool!
