No one dies directly because of Alzheimer`s disease, so this makes me question the validity of this graph.

When you get to the page, scroll down a bit and where it says "Interactive Graphic" and the picture looks like the posting one? Click that for the good bits!
Each cause can be charted simply by hovering your pointer!
Notice the spike for Influenza in 1919: yikes!

@freedan: It`s a relatively new thing, it shows up on the interactive graph after 1999.

There`s two other death-related suggestions, I hope they go up too! One is informative and the other is LuL-Wut?

cancer and heart disease...both rose with the age of genetically modified food and food made with materials not even a chemist can pronounce without sounding it out a few times.

and people call me crazy for eating organic as much as possible...

I notice they changed "Senility" to "Alzheimers" and treated as two different things.

Also, these days you are much more likely to actually be diagnosed with cancer or heart disease. In the past, people`s deaths may have been caused by cancer, but as it went undetected, their cause of death was listed as something else.

@Jamie76- absolutely right. Wherever I`ve lived, I`ve managed to organically grow the bulk of my food, and obtaining locally produced, organic foodstuff for what I don`t or can`t grow. Utilizing a plant based diet makes things so much simpler.

Cancer rates have gone up-up-UP because people are living longer in general. Also what @icaruschild said!

But look at heart disease: It goes up-up too, but then starts going down again, even though the population`s getting older!

Sometimes science IS a good thing! Tuberculosis = GONE! (well mostly)

jamie76: "cancer and heart disease...both rose with the age of genetically modified food and food made with materials not even a chemist can pronounce without sounding it out a few times."

"and people call me crazy for eating organic as much as possible..."

No, people call you crazy for assuming correlation equals causation, but only in the negative cases. By your same argument, then genetically modified foods have reduced the cases of all other forms of death.

Now, since you can see the flaw in *that* logic, why can`t you see the flaw in your own logic where you blame genetically modified foods for other things that they clearly didn`t cause?

Just because A happens and then B happens, does NOT mean that A caused B. As far as I`m aware, there is ZERO good scientific evidence for your claim, this graph included. Got any *real* scientific evidence?

vv Thank you @HiEv! For talking some sense into these... idk what!

    @Jamie & @CaptK (and whomever else)

LOOK at the chart! Heart disease DROPS after... (looksitup) 1972! When things like "open heart surgery" and "quadruple by-pass" were perfected. DROPS!
As for Cancer: click the button to make the "life expectancy" turn grey. LOOK at how Cancer starts DROPPING around 1998 after closely mirroring the longer life? Yet at that point GM, irradiated and chemicalized food use is going UP!

@jamie IDK how you can claim to "be a doctor" (with "multiple" degrees iirc) and yet be dratING IGNORANT of science. And sickeningly ignorant on statistics as well.

And I didn`t type "dratting" either...

Is "heart disease" a euphemism for women? Seems like we`re not making much progress on that front.
