    "Occupy Posters Inc"???

    LOLZ!

    Ok, that explains everything!

LEts see: For starters: The Nordic Nations depend on the USA for protection, although both Sweden and Finland have excellent armies and navies. They also REQUIRE Military Service too.

How about a REALISTIC comparison: USA vs Russia? USA vs China? Yeah, didn`t think so...

When you get out of the military, most companies prefer ex military over the next applicant so you`re most likely set for life.. Unless you make really poor choices..

@5cats: I wasn`t really commenting on the content so much as where it`s from, OWS stuff usually gets boo`d on principle.

Although I think the best message to take from this is that education IS one of if not the most important things in a country. Most everyone should be encouraged to take higher education, and should have access to it, because even the idiots will be weeded out in the first year. This is just America treating education as a business, just like they do with everything else. We follow the US example for many things like this, and I think education is now just a tool to keep the populace dumb and ignorant.

The US doesn`t pay for hard working intelligent people to get educated. We pay for the dim-witted ignorant to get cell phones, cable, food, health care and if they like an education. Then we build up their self esteem so that they can feel good about being ignorant failures. US citizens, keep watching TV everything`s going to be all right.

Doesn`t 100% subsidy create infinite demand though? I have to wonder, compared to our own country in which education is attached to individual expense, and in which we are STILL experiencing a surplus of educated laborers and a shortage of jobs, how can this not be even worse for those regions represented in this opinion piece?

What a load of inane, self-righteous nonsense. It is simply loading fallacy upon fallacy; if this mode of argument was the expected result of education I would recommend not trying it.

The biggest farce is to specifically target "for profit" schools as "preying" on students. That is just ignorance. There is no evidence that commercial colleges are acting against the interests of their students; in fact the evidence is (for obvious reasons) that they have more care for their students interests than the none-profit establishments.

I clicked this thinking "oh geez another anti-American crap submission.." Then I read it, and thought, "well... Yea, can`t argue with that.."

Trust me, most American citizens see it, we know what is happening, and we see our country in decline. There is just NOTHING we can do about it. Yea sure, let us vote some politician into position so he can break every promise that he only made to get into office.

Washington stopped listening a long time ago, we`re at the mercy of our politicians... I see the need for a "revolution" of sorts.

MeGrendel, Food stamps vs feeding the animals? So we should all be like you? We should all not give a poo if people die because they can`t afford basic things like food and healthcare? Because that is what your post suggests.

The Park service knows that some animals will starve as a result of their policy. That kind of policy is unacceptable when it is people who are starving. What doesn`t seem to sink in with conservatives is that we form towns, and cities, and states, and countries because we are all better off together than we are alone. That means that the well off do better in the long run when they help the less fortunate.

I do not accept that it is OK for society to let the weak wither while the strong exploit the infrastructure that we all paid for.

History has shown that charity isn`t enough, "trickle down" is a lie, and "letting the markets sort it out" is the enemy of stable economies.

Good logic viking, I`d advise basing which country you live in purely on that statistic, take your pick, suicides are per 100,000 deaths.

    Syria 0.1
    Egypt 0.1
    Honduras 0.0
    Haiti 0.0
    Azerbaijan 0.6

    All seem like fine choices.

I have a better idea, how about we dismantle all the political organizations and let the people decide how they want to live. The IDIOTS are the reason why we suffer in America. Because the IDIOTS can`t possibly make choices for themselves I have to suffer and pay with my hard earned MONEY to help the retards. As if I like to have my PAYCHECK which IS MINIMUM WAGE TAXED into a oblivion to help the IDIOTS. I have managed to take my minimum wage which is GIVEN to the IDIOTS and a LITTLE AMERICAN HUSTLE to make money. I don`t have one kid or GF. But in AMERICA our CORRUPT government rewards irresponsibility of the IDIOTS by given THE IDIOTS my hard earned MONEY. The IDIOTS RICH and POOR make me POORER.

Two media related to this are required: Jesse Ventura`s new book "Democripts and Rebloodlicans" and "Inside Job" the movie documentary of five administrations (going back to Reagan`s deregulation of banks) financial monkeying that continues under Obama. We are, indeed, doomed by the two party system OWNED by the fat cats.

This post isnt 100% accurate. To receive higher levels of education you have to take loans, but a certain percentage of that loan is made into a grant if you should pass your exam.

However, the payment rates on the loan is very reasonable, and its not usual to have loans over 250 000 NOK (or rougly $42.000).

However since people with strong educations earn so much in this country, starting salaries ranging from 450 000 - 500 000 ($75-85 000) and upwards, people who graduate have no issues being able to pay back their loans in a small period of time.

There is however other "wings" of student societies that does receive benefits, aswell as student appartments to live in.

Being a Norwegian myself who have benefacted from our education program, aswsell as health program and other social programs.

To us and other countries who are doing both what we do, and are doing it even better in some instances. While most love america, we pity the

Same situation a lot of my friends are going through. I went the other direction, and did not pursue a college education. While my friends out of college are trying hard to find work and pay off their loans, I am already well established in my career and have a house, cars, and if I want something I buy it.
