Cool! If I go back in time about a week, I can see this exact post!

It is irrelevant. If, at some point in the future, we invent time travel, then we will be able to come back to now. That means that we will have time travel now. Sadly, this also means that we probably won`t be successful in developing time travel or we`d already have it.

@patchouly - Not necessarily, if people really care about screwing with the time line like they say in all of the TV shows and movies. They could be coming back to do little things and going unnoticed.

    (It sounds good anyway.)

You can`t alter time. If something happened, it happened. You can`t prevent yourself from doing someting, If you could it would not be in your past so there`s no reason to go back and prevent it, which means you did it.

You can only "time travel" to the future by means of near light speed. End of discussion.

It is for now. Future understanding of space-time may re-open the discourse, though.

Gerry, that`s the same conclusion I always get to time travel movies.

If you went back and altered anything in the past, it would negate the reason for going back in the first place, which means that it would have already happened, and the going-back-to-fix-it idea would never have occurred. Time travel is a circular paradox.

All that assumes that time is a linear progression, but maybe everything is happening at once which means there is no forward or back in time. Time is a human construct.

@Trutenrman and @gerry: That paradox is easily negated by many-worlds interpretation.

Like god or ghosts or sea monsters, time travel does not exist. My proof is nobody has made it back to our time. Just like god or ghosts or ufos. You have one short life. Don`t waste it on intangibles . . .

Hey I-A-B - maybe if you cared as much about upgrading your search feature to index SUBJECT contents as you do about gay marriage, Neil deGrasse Tyson and fat Americans, you could IDENTIFY your past posts sufficient to prevent duplicates!

    Not eugenius` fault.
