1. That`s not a plow. It`s a pair of locomotives with a plow on the nose. 2. Deep? In spots, but not that bad - which is why they used the loco instead of heavy equipment. 3. In almost thirty years of operating trains in Alaska, we faced worse than that almost every winter.

Seems to me that type of train combination was made specifically for doing just what it was doing. Clearing the tracks. I noticed it didnt just clear a path, but it cleared the snow from between the rails low enough to where any other train that follows wouldnt be pushing snow onto the tracks.
