But rats eat anything Squirlz, including plastic and copper piping, or each other. I wouldn`t plan my diet using them as a model if I were you. Stick to eating nuts...

~has an idea~

Now waitaminnit. At first, I was all like, "Who on Earth wants to bring back these giant lice?!" But then I remembered that the ship`s rats devoured all those things on Lord Howe Island in no time... which can mean only one thing: they`re DELICIOUS!

So I say, bring `em back. Bring `em back by the bushel! We can make Tree Lobster Hot Dogs. Deep Fried Tree Lobsters On A Stick. Tree Lobster Pate. Heck, we can invent a whole new CUISINE! McDonald`s can come out with the McTree Lobster Sandwich. The mind boggles!

Insects ruled during the Carboniferous, not the Jurassic.

Nah, they are not creepy. You know their agenda right from the start. They don`t want to get eaten so they look like twigs. It`s the others that are creepy, they`re the ones you need to watch.

Um - if I saw those things creeping above me in the trees I`d make SURE they went extinct.

What`s even grosser than the bugs is that guy`s uni-brow!

I suppose the island`s residents would welcome a program to remove the rats and NOT re-introduce the insects.

Amazing story. But those bugs are really creepy. I`d support their reintroduction if I lived on the island, but not with a lot of enthusiasm.

"Let`s bring the giant lice back! Yay."

@gothgirl69: Even if you don`t like insects, you must hate rats more right?

Tree Lobsters: Eats some types of plants and looks freaky.
Rats: Bites people, eats everything in your house including plaster walls/wiring, pees in the food it does not eat, spreads disease.

If it helps, think of it as ridding yourself of a bigger problem.

Yay bugs! Lets hope they wipe out the invader species and re-populate the cool bugs!

It`s a heart-warming story, thanks @jendrian!

::shudders:: I don`t like insects... That thing, while kinda cool is too freaky for me. I would not be able to live near them, especially after watching it hatch.
