Just do it when your mother isn"t looking, or she"ll give you crap about your eyes getting stuck.

Yup ... awesome the way your mind works. Once your brain "locks in" to the image, you can look around it normally and instantly spot the missing star, or any difference.

I`ve been doing this for years. My kids think I`m some genius at difference games. I just tell them I cheat.

If you`re having trouble, it may be because the image is too big, try zooming out a bit.

is it like magic eye sterograms where you focus behind the image, or like crossing your eyes as in looking at your nose?

Found all the differences without squinting.

The missing star? Divide the picture by thirds left to right and then divide the picture by fifths top to bottom. The missing star will be very close to the line dividing the top fifth and the second fifth and the first and second third.

Wow - I finally achieved the method, and then it made me nauseous. I couldn`t complete the star-spot.

ahem... LIKE A BOSS! I kind feel like i have super powers now. I thought that was only useful for those hidden 3d images. Bring it on highlights magazine. After all these years, I`m finally ready for you.

I can do this, but it`s easier for me to look at the left image with my left eye, and the right image with my right eye. However, the centers of these images are too far apart for that. (Maybe it`s because I`m using a 28" monitor.) I reduced the size a bit, and I was able to find the star pretty quick, but I had to read the comments to find the dot in the pound sign. That was just too small to notice.

If you`re really looking for something in the sky like a comet or asteroid, though, a blink comparator works much better.

i agree, Jaxxun had the right idea, cross your eyes and focus the middle picture, the object that is sorta blinking/looks like it bright is where the differences are.

It`s Japanese.

I found it but it didn`t really blink. It just seemed more like a superimposed dark spot or void that jumped out with the star on the edge. Also they spelled incredible wrong.

ok i just followed Jaxxun`s post and it worked for me. that was a lot easier to follow than all those steps.

Found all of it under 10 secs each.

Just cross your eyes and look for the blinking object!

If u have a lazy eye you`ll get them in less then a min.
in the Chinese one look at the pound sign under the nearly blank spot one pound sign is missing a dot on the inside.
on the star one about three inches below the the space between "Found it?" theres 2 stars on top of each other on the other pic one of the stars is missing.

Took me a long time to get it, but once I got it - awesome! Took a long time to learn to lock my eyes onto the center image.

omg it worked. Got the star pretty quick to my surprise. Thought I had the sign wrong til I took a closer look and saw the difference was tiny.

i`ve also been doing this with these kinds of puzzles for a while now, probably a year or two. i used to do it with my keyboard keys all the time at work.

but, while i was able to the star almost instantly, i`m incapable of finding the symbol. i see 3 symbols that are slightly different, but it seems to be the same symbol every time, just slightly misprinted sort of. it`s driving me nuts.

would`ve been nice to put the stereograms a little further from one another, it was pretty hard to begin doing the squinting

It works brillantly. I suspect that the people who could see the three dimensional figures in those old cross-eyed patterns couldn`t do this either.

That does make it really easy. It still took me two tries on the star though, one looked sort of 3D and glowy and I thought that was it.
