robosnitz: "I guess the First Amendment, only applies to minorities and celebrities when naming your kids."

Have a kid (that requires you eventually leaving daddy`s basement) and name him/her "molestmenow" and then get back to us and tell us how it goes.
If a name can potentially harm a child, like that or "adolph Hitler", than maybe those 1st amendment rights don`t apply, douchebag mouthbreather.

Background: First IAB Story
And the Second

On the one hand they`re free to name their kids as they please. On the other hand they`re drating idiots!
The domestic violence thing sounds like an excuse, lots of outrageously BAD parents get their kids back.

"Being Atheist is so mainstream these days."

Come on. You really don`t think it is marginalized? Polls repeatedly show it is the most hated minority in the country and in the history of our nation there has been only ONE openly atheist member of Congress, and not a single one in the Presidency or on the Supreme Court.

There is a gag order on the case so we have no clue what kind of details came out during it. The name side of this is for the headlines and to grab attention.

C`mon, man. Use some common sense. There`s a difference between "expressing" and "inciting".

Yeah, gotta say - I don`t support the state taking these children away because of the beliefs of the parents or their naming of the children.

Having said that, it appears - in this case - that the state custody issue is rooted in abuse, not the names or beliefs. But, if it were found that these parents did not abuse the children (or there is no evidence to substantiate abuse), I`d be upset - as a citizen of the US - if these children were taken away.

I believe different things than the mainstream - for example, I`m (effectively) an atheist. Should my kids be taken away from me because of this? Where does it end?

If you can take kids based on bad name choices, celebrities would not be allowed to have children. Bon Jovi named his kid Wolfgang, Zappa named his Dweezle & Moon Unit, Biyance named hers Blue Ivy.

Aweful.

I say GOOD. They named their kids Aryan Nation and Adolf Hitler. That`s more than enough reason to take away children for me. At least these kids will be given a chance at a normal life now. Btw, there were domestic abuse charges amongst other things. That`s why their kids we`re taken away.

The kids aren`t allowed back in the home due to history of abuse, not their names.

Sensationalist journalism is sensationalist.

Frist what the big deal about Adolf Hitler he is not much different than Abraham Lincoln. (Less evil in many ways)

Seconded it’s just a name. Once a sociologist named his two sons Winner and Loser for an experiment

Third what happed to freedom? It must just be a meaningless word.

So, the mother has expressed a concern that her husband might kill her, and the boy has said that he would "kill someone". i`d say thats a sign that there is domestic vioence in the house. I`d also be concerned that someone might try to harm their children, simply based on their given names. What a mess.

The kids are no longer under the care of psychopathic Nazis, which is great, but for christ sake change their names!

Hmm - there is really not a lot of information here. Being a Nazi is reprehensible to me, but I don`t see how they did much wrong. There is a gag order on the proceedings, but the allegations of abuse don`t appear to be very well substantiated. The boy, Adolf, saying he is going to kill people? This also needs more context. My 4 year old says similar things at times (usually while wielding a light saber) and he goes around saying he will fight bad guys all the time.
