Hello Funkytoes,
If i remember well, giraffes sleep while standing. The backflexing of the knees is needed to have a position where no muscles are needed to keep the legs standing.
Any biologist to approve/disagree?

Funkytoes- it most likely is hyper extending, but all mammal babies are very flexible from the mothers hormones to make her ligaments and tendons stretch and make room for their growing young. All babies are very flexible to begin with, he probably doesn`t even notice.

He/she is really cute!

Ok I may just be a PT nerd, but one knee seems to hyper extend every time it puts weight on it :/ Every time I see something like that I cringe a little.

Cute nonetheless :P
