Pot is not addictive. I used to go through a half quarter, every other day. One day, I decided to stop (having a kid and didn`t want to smoke around a baby) and I did. No physical withdrawal symptoms at all. I missed being stoned, for the first few days, and that was it. No problems at all.

Cigarettes, on the other hand, were a nightmare. I have a HIGHLY addictive personality and it took me years to quit. I spent the first two weeks balled up on the couch and yelling and people.

This was stupid. She`s a DEA agent so she`s looking at it from the point of view that all drugs are bad regardless of severity.

Try answering a direct question that evasively in any other court, and you`ll find yourself thrown in a cell for contempt. How it`s tolerated in an oversight committee I don`t know. Oversight committees and Parliament in general is considered to have the weight of a court in the UK, I don`t know about the US.

The questioner was being a douche. She doesn`t set drug policy, congress does. What she believes has no bearing on her job responsibilities, if it did she would likely be considered to be `compromised` and likely loose her job.

Browbeating her on the subject was just asinine.

` What she believes has no bearing on her job responsibilities...`

He wasn`t asking what she believed, it was an objective question, is meth more harmful than weed? She is very senior and knows the answer. (Tt`s `yes`, by the way) Fair enough being honest in front of an inquiry might be career damaging.

Maybe we should have a little caption. `If this government employee answers a question honestly they will be disciplined. Now go ahead and ask.`

so much can be said about this video. I mean..how could she not even bring up one damn scientific fact and she is the head of this nonsense. It was like listening to a broken record of "Drugs are bad Mmkay" just made me want to start smoking weed again. Which can most certainly be addicting. But what can`t? porn, sugar, coffee, soda, smoking, video games, tv, cats, shoes, shopping, stupidity, shoving your finger down your throat and barfing. I mean there is an endless amount of things that can be addicting. We are creatures of habit aren`t we. Some of us are better at breaking cycles better then others. If you want the problem solved, just let the problem sort itself out, I refer to extreme drug problems. if they die, they die. Marijuana is only illegal because of a very stupid scare tactic. White people being the powerful frightened folk they were back then, thought mexicans and black jazz musicians were bringing the devils plant around. made that illegal in 15 minutes

I helped vote this guy in, and his tenacity makes me proud. (Not only on this issue, but on others he works on, such such gay marriage.)

I love living in Colorado. I drive by half a dozen medical marijuana dispensaries during my weekly work route. Our 400+ dispensaries brought in 5 million dollars of tax revenue last year. In the 11 years since medical marijuana was made legal here there have been none of the negative social effects predicted by opponents of medical marijuana. I hope we can be the first state to achieve full decriminalization.

Marijuana is just as harmful if not more dangerous than all other drugs. It`s super addictive. And having never tried it, I can tell you from my non-experience that if you smoke it, you will kill your own mother just to get another hit.

Her answer should have been like: "If it is illegal, I will go after it. If you want an opinion on health impact, ask a pathologist. My JOB is to arrest law breakers in order of perceived threat using investigation via infiltration and, if necessary, a combination of military tactics. I do not recommend treatment. Wouldn`t policy recommendation be your job, Senator?"

Funny how the agency administrator doesn`t function well under pressure...

LordJim: She`s not a doctor or a scientist. Her job is to follow the law set by congress. It`s not her job to decide policy, it`s not her job to judge which is worse or better.

It`s as ridiculous as asking a cop whether or not beating a spouse is better or worse than beating a kid and demanding that they choose one or the other. In the eyes of the law it`s the same thing.

If that`s true why are there different classes of drugs? Why are some drugs legal (alcohol, caffeine)? You are assuming that laws are based on fact and in this case science when in fact that is not always the case specifically when it comes to things that people enjoy.

Stop being an utter fool. His question was no different than asking "Is a Big Mac more harmful to you than a Smoothie?" There is scientific evidence supporting what he`s asking and the fact that she refuses to answer is because she knows the line of questioning he`s heading into. It was not one of those questions like "Have you stopped beating your wife" where there is no correct answer. There was a correct answer. The correct answer was "Yes, scientifically speaking, marijuana has been shown to be far less harmful to the human body than heroin." Your analogy makes absolutely no sense. There is no factual, scientific evidence to say either one of your options is better or worse than the other. Your logic is retarded.

The fact is, it`s the CONGRESS who created drug prohibition, and it`s the CONGRESS who created the DEA. His questioning made about as much sense as asking her opinion of which of his turds smells worse, when the real point that everyone is missing is that, THEY`RE HIS TURDS!

Ugh. This just comments on the political nature of her position. She knows the answer, she isn`t stupid. But she`s not allowed to show any weakness in her stance against drugs. Even to the point of denying a sensible question, she is not allowed to suggest in any way that one drug might not be so dangerous.

Hey now, I`d like to mention that while the effects of addiction, overdose, bad cuts, or improper IV use are clearly bad, the effects of heroin/opiates themselves aren`t. Therefore, it`s not worse for your health, as with both drugs proper use results in little to no detrimental effects on one`s health. Anything else, such as unknown purity, are purely a result of illegality.

So while heroin is clearly more dangerous (really anything whatsoever is more dangerous than getting stoned), neither substance is itself actually bad for your health, so they`re equally as `bad`.

Of course I`m not advocating running out to shoot dope, but my point is some have no problem calling others out for one drug is bad without any knowledge on the subject, then turn around and do the same with other substances, even though they too have little knowledge of the subject and are simply forming opinions based on whatever tidbits and rumours they`ve heard over the years.

As badly as she handled answering that question, it was an unfair question to begin with. Before I continue, though; cards on the table. I don`t smoke pot but I do believe in the use of medicinal pot. Having said that, that politician was; surprise, surprise, playing politics. There is no right way for her to answer that question. If she says that pot is not as addictive as other drugs, he`ll browbeat her on why they spend so much on the "war on drugs"; most of which is marijuana. As for whether or not pot is addictive; that depends on the individual. Some people have addictive personalities, some don`t. The biggest problem with pot is that it is an ILLEGAL gateway drug. Smokes and booze are the true gateway drugs but that`s another can of worms. People with addictive personalities will smoke more and more pot in an effort to get a better high before moving on to something stronger. This is what casual tokers(people without addictive personalities) don`t understand. 1000 char
