Must be an american thing. Pretty much all colleges are free in the UK if you are under 18. And yes, we leave school at 16 with more education than americans do at 18.

Harder than it looks. Also leaves your coffee pot with bits of noodle clinging to the insides, which are horribly stubborn to clean out.

@tedgp--I`m pretty sure in the UK/Europe they use "college" to refer to what we call "High School" which we also provide for free. "College" over here means "University" for you guys.

Don`t forget the roommates who can`t clean their own drating dishes. Eggs on cheesy bread is a better way to go btw. ramen is only good if you add wavy lays BBQ chips and ketchup

Back in the day, the only thing we could have in the dorm was a popcorn popper, but if you were good, you could cook just about ANYTHING in one of these things. Sometimes we even made popcorn.

You may not realize it yet, but trust me, nothing is "free." SOMEBODY has to pay for it, and he`s starting to get pretty f***ing sick and tired of it.

@OldOllie, this may be true but everyone is entitled to free education under the age of 18 and there are quite a few sets of circumstances in which you can get college level (16-18) education after the age of 18 and I think the point is that if everyone had to pay for education, only the rich would get any and everyone would be stuck in a loop in their own circle. Now people with scummy parents can become doctors if they so wish because they can have access to the right qualifications

@mon360 - Here`s a bit of advice I wish someone had given me. Take a course called industrial and organizational psychology your first semester. It`s not so much what you`d think a psychology course would be. It will teach you how to approach college in general and maximize your experience.

You just don`t get it, do you? What you are REALLY saying is that everyone is entitled to an education AT SOMEONE ELSE`S EXPENSE. Nothing is "free." You can make a good case that this is a good thing, but don`t delude yourself into thinking that nobody is having to pay for it.
