Captain Picard was by far the best captain. The Quantum Leap guy needs to go. No one even watched his very short lived reign.

First, they`re in the wrong order. Scott Bakula should be on the far left.
Second, they forgot the 6th captain.

`Enterprise` lasted one season longer than the original classic. So that`s a success.

Though `Enterprise` has the all time worst Star Trek episode EVER.
The one where Archer`s dog gets sick. Even worse than when Janeway and Paris regressed into salamanders or when they took out Spocks Brain.

Stargate the TV show lasted forever too, but it was still god awful. The new Enterprise falls in the same line as that. It`s still crap. Well, to me anyways. Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and Generations were more my cup of tea.

    Star Trek
    Next Generation
    Voyager
    Enterprise
    DS9

Saying that any Star Trek is worse than the others is ridiculous. They were all terrible in their own way, but they are so ingrained in geek culture that all is forgiven. Star Trek was and is loved by way more people than it should be.

Gerry, I am not saying anything that is untrue. Really look back at the original star trek series. it was just awful, through and through. Some of the places they visited were interesting in theory, but they just didnt have the capacity to make anything really great. None after the original have grown any better, even with advances in special effects. I understand that people love it . I am just saying, you can love something that isnt that great, but you need to admit it.

Cobra and other youngins, gather `round and I splain Star Trek.

Old Ollie and I grew up in a time when everyone knew, KNEW not thought, that there would be a nuclear holocaust in our lifetimes. We`d been taught it in books, movies and the news. There were race riots in the streets, and students at colleges being shot by National Guardsmen. It was a bleak time.

All the sci-fi films and books of the day carried the post-apocalypse theme. Then came Star Trek and it was the only thing that said not only would we get through all this, we be better afterwards!

Desperate for any hopefull message people clung to Star Trek. After it ended the fans wouldn`t let it die and created conventions, clubs, & Fan-Films. There hase never been a phenomena like it. Star Trek started the fan-based industries you see at ComiCon or other gatherings. The nerds at NASA were all Trekies.

That`s why Star Trek will always be greater than Star Whores.

I would agree with your list, Gerry. I like Kirk the best, even if TOS was overacted (don`t just blame Shatner, everybody in the series overacted). However, I will admit that Shatner has /not/ aged well.

Star Trek - Boldly going where no one`s gone before.
Star Trek TNG - Boldly going where someone`s been before.
Star Trek DS9 - Boldly staying still
Star Trek Voyager - Boldly going home
Star Trek Enterprise - Boldly going somewhere before Kirk goes there. (sorta like trying to beat Germans to the best sun loungers in the morning).

Gerry, I understand why it became so important, but that doesnt mean it was ever a "great" show. All I am asking is for people to be honest. You can love a terrible show for all the right reasons and I wont hate you for it. All I ask is for people to admit that the show wasnt the greatest thing ever.

Also, not a giant fan of star wars either. Like a couple of the movies and some of the video games, but not a big . I cant say I hate all things star trek either though. Personally, I enjoyed JJ`s new movie, and didnt hate the one with Picard and the cyborgs.
