Quite a bit worse than Watergate. Obama should have disavowed and let Holder fry.

This is gonna sink them both.

This was a racially motivated political stunt to try and remove a man who has been fighting tirelessly against voter suppression of American citizens. The fact that the congressional black caucus walked out on the vote pretty much says it all. AJ`s comment that this is a bit worse than Watergate shows just how retarded opinion media makes people.

Another republican tempest in a teapot. Have you read the Fortune article on what really happened? No reasonable person can consider Fortune a left wing mouthpiece.

This is just another idea that seems good at the time to Republicans, but they will have a tough time living down in the context of history. Like the Clinton impeachment. Histrionics.

Markust. There aren`t 100 members of the congressional black caucus.

They left because they didn`t want to do the right thing.

It`s very similar to what the democrats in Wisconsin did when the vote on the unions came up. They just left and went to Illinois, so they wouldn`t HAVE to vote.

Also, it has nothing to do with color. An American citizen is dead because of the reckless actions of the justice department, and where does the buck stop? Eric Holder.

Obama, by evoking executive privileged, inserted himself into the discussion. What does he need to hide? Why did he even need to do it? Was he protecting a friend from the justice he deserves? Was he hiding his own involvement? Either way, the people of the United States deserve, and that border patrol agent`s family, and have the right to know.

@Extracredit: Clinton`s impeachment was legal, and warranted. He lied under oath, period.

I was happy he won the impeachment trial, (I was a registered Democrat at the time, and I voted for him, twice) but he deserved it.

contempt of congress = toothless tiger.

also, the republicans KNOW that the ATF did nothing wrong and used no such tactics called "gun walking". yet here they are holding Holder in contempt and playing politics.

republicans are enemy number one of the US at this point. they want total control and want to subvert commonsense and freedom.

    fck them.

@AJ is absolutely correct: Clinton was a "high priced lawyer" and full well knew what he was doing: pergury.

This clown (in the video) pretends the Repubs "dragged it out for 1 & 1/2 years" in order to impact the election? LOLZ! Since Holder did everything he legally could to NOT co-oprate, and several ILLGAL things, it`s laughable.

Funny, he didn`t drag racism into it too...

I read cnn.com, foxnews.com & msnbc.com every day so that I can get some semblance of the truth of a story. I don`t read their opinion pieces or watch their videos. i just read their news stories. I also don`t watch cable news, look at partisan political sites or listen to partisan radio. And I definitely do not listen to people like you who do. Your kind (left & right) is a poison on America.

jamie76: Issa has `whistle blower` witnesses that were working at the ATF at the time and they say this scandal goes all the way to the top.

This investigation predates any `Voter ID` laws, has nothing to do with race and involves the murder of agent Brian Terry and injuries to others.

    Holder lied, Brian Terry died.

Because almost everything on here against Obama is sensationalism with very little resemblance to journalism or truth. I stood up for Mitt 3 times when he was being attacked for something he did in high school. The funny thing is you falsely accused me of attacking him in that same post. You see things in such black and white you couldn`t even see that I was sticking up for him.

@markust: Ok, now address the "accusation vs fact" issue please. YOU have convicted Romney as 100% guilty based on a Democrat Lawyer`s accusation, without evidence, 47 years after the event, which was a harmless prank.
    Deal!

I fixed the lost "w" in "now". But you still didn`t really defend him as you made an excuse.

Romney doesn`t NEED excuses! He didn`t DO anything! At least as far as we know.

Obama smoked pot, he snorted cocain, but OH MY! never did harder drugs!

These are FACTS! Why? Because Obama himself says so!
Obama needs excuses, HE cannot defend against accusations of drug use!

Romney says he cannot recall this happening, his peers, witnesses, victem`s family ALSO cannot remember it! Only slimey lawyers can.

(you suggested I was slimey in that thread. Turnabout is fair play, eh?)

So he spins and squirms and the MSM (and @markust) back him to the hilt!

    It`s raaaacism!
    It`s a vast right-wing conspiracy!
    The Republicans did it toooooo!

Notice how not ONE of these `excuses` denies that he LIED to and obstructed Congress? It`s called "change the subject" and it`s liberalism`s #3 tactic.

Typical republican drating asshattery. Goddam those mother draters. Liberals come into office and basically just decide, "Hey, let`s get past all of this mess" and how the drat are they thanked?! From the motherdrating republican dratnuts being their tired predictable, fartknuckle selves, that`s how. Congratulations, non-nice individuals. So, let`s see, dratnut Newt is screwing someone on the side and calling for impeachment of Clinton, after Starr spends over $20M of tax payer money on finding nothing but a cum stain on a dress. Anything happen to Newt? No, he`s a hero. Ashcroft? Woo? Nope, all heroes. GODDAMNED dratING TYPICAL.

@chickiesue: It takes a lot of words to explain how and why liberals are wrong. Shouting slogans is easy! Lets take @SmagBoy for example:

after Starr spends over $20M of tax payer money on finding nothing but a cum stain on a dress.
How many things are factually wrong here? Just plain outright LIES?
    1) Starr was appointed by Janet Reno (AG) by a law signed by Clinton. Newt was not involved at all!
    2) Starr investigated the Whitewater scandel, which happened before Clinton was elected.
3)during the investigation, he found Clinton was a serial adulterer with a decade-long mistress and had an (alleged) affair with one of his co-accused.
4)Starr then asked a panel of judges if this could be counted as "motive" in covering up the Whitewater "crime". They all said yes!
5)under SWORN testamony Clinton admitted Jennifer Flowers WAS his mistress for over 10 years...

See how difficut it is? And wait until the lib-tards cry "sources! citations!" kile they`re allergic to Goggle and Wiki!

5a)The "vast right wing conspiracy"? That was Hillary`s explaination why SO MANY people, ALL Democrats btw, accused Bill of having prostitutes and mistresses. One named was Flowers...

6)Clinton denied under oath that he`d had sex with Monica Lewinski.
7)Pergury is a Federal Felony: a convicted FF cannot by Law become (or remain) President.

Added: 3 (three!) women accused Bill of assault.

Thus: The cum stain on the blue dress was ABSOLUTE proof that Clinton DID have sex with Monica! He`d also abused the powers of his office to cover it up.

If Clinton had not LIED under oath, Starr would have simply completed his Whitewater investigation and that`s it!

So STFU @SmagBoy, you obviously know NOTHING about the case.

Bonus: AFTER Clinton left office, he signed a confession (in exchange for complete immunity) of ALL the things Starr had accused him of (except the Whitewater swindle, of course). Lies, cover ups, misuse of power, everything.

Hey SmagBoy: How much, in inflation adjusted dollars, did the "Iran-Contra" investigation cost? Oliver North, remember? That was the SAME LAW used by Starr fyi...

5Cats, I notice that you`ve totally ignored my point. Starr investigated Whitewater, as you say. And only through inside knowledge from a information given to his private firm by a "woman" (in fact, a devious, traitorous bitch) Lewinsky *thought* was a friend, Linda Tripp, did he even ASK the question about Lewinsky, knowing Clinton would deny it because that affair had NOTHING to do with Whitewater. At all. But, hell Starr couldn`t get *anything* at all on Whitewater. Why even investigate that deal at all? Because he was a Democrat. Just like this Holder thing. As for Newt, he had nothing to do with the case, everything to do with the IMPEACHMENT of a sitting president, while he, himself, was lying to his wife and his constituents and having an affair. *That`s* the parallel, and I know plenty about the case. As for COL North, he WAS found guilty--even if later overturned on technicalities, and even if he shouldn`t have been. He was just following orders.

But, he was guilty. And he did do what he accused of. Clinton did, too. He had an affair. And we spent $20M on it because he was a Democrat. Same thing here with Holder. You didn`t answer my Ashcroft or Woo claim. I know why, too.

But hey, in the end, you`re right, both sides suck. Both sides are vile, evils poos. But, this charge of Holder is not any more valid than any of the others we`ve discussed here. So let`s not act like he`s any worse or that Obama is somehow more evil than Reagan, etc.

Hell, the professional black caucus will walk out on a vote if the coffee shop is out of sweet-n-low. It only means they KNOW a black man is guilty and will show their `support` for him and claim `racism` because you `have to help a brother out`.

jamie76-"republicans KNOW that the ATF did nothing wrong"

How are they to know this? Holder refuses to release the documents. I`m sure that if the documents would prove him innocent he would have released them the first day.

Okay, 5Cats, I`ve been thinking about it, and I was wrong. Well, partially. What makes me angry about this is not that Holder is being held in contempt. He should be. So, let me get that out of the way. In that, you`re correct.

What makes me angry is that this is nothing new. Look at Ashcroft, look at Woo. And, yes, look at Ollie North. You`re right, why was he charged, yet not others? Where`s the consistency? The fact that the government went after Clinton over Whitewater, but not all of the hundreds of other lawmakers. Agreed, they did, eventually, go after Alaska`s Stevens. But only after they had to. And it`s the exception. Both parties do it.

Here`s another part that makes me mad. I agree that Obama shouldn`t be extending executive privilege (or trying to) for this case. But Bush shouldn`t have over the ones I mentioned, either. I`m willing to admit plenty that Obama`s done wrong: Guantanamo, transparency, Patriot Act Extension, Executive Powers

I`m willing to have my view on the Zimmerman case evolve as new facts come in (and I have moved considerably on that one). I`m willing to call President Obama to task on several things. And, too, to give Romney credit where it`s due, or Reagan, or Bush I. But, no conservative I know, on this site or IRL or on FB, etc., will ever admit wrong in their party or in their candidates, etc. Ever example is ridiculed, ever case in a Democratic snow job.

So, to me, this charging of holder, while entirely correct in that he *ought* to have to testify, is total and complete hypocrisy, and something that the Repubs wouldn`t have called Ashcroft to do ever.

5Cats, your last post to me is a prime example of why I can`t stand you and ignore your posts. Even when you are caught in a lie you spin things around on the other person. I have zero respect for manipulative people like you. I have even less respect for you because you are not very good at it. I really hope some day you figure out what is making you be such a horrible person so that you can be happy. I had a manager that behaved like you. He was the second worse person I knew. But I watched him change over a couple year period and he turned into the most loving and wonderful guy. He was no longer my manager at the time but I could see the transformation - it was that noticeable. I asked him what was up because he was so cool now. He said he just got sick of being negative and being a jerk and made a conscious effort to change. It can be done. A life of happiness is easy to achieve if you just put your mind to it.

auburnjunky, my apologies! You`re absolutely correct, and I do concede that point. :-) How about if I say that the fringes of both parties are that way? Or, maybe the fringes of both ideologies? You do *not* fall in that group, and I do apologize for being so general in my statement.

Too, I think it`s important that I make clear that, though I`m a social liberal, I`m a fiscal conservative. Even then, though, what I believe is okay to spend a bit more money on, and what I believe should be reined in is informed by my social leanings (e.g., I`m for cutting our defense budget in half--we`d still be the most powerful military in the world, and spending the "savings" on education, training, domestic infrastructure, and micro loan programs). So, as you can imagine, I`m not a fan of all liberal *or* conservative programs. But a lot of what we end up discussing here is social stuff, so, I always come off as an uber liberal. And I just wanted to clarify. FWIW.

    @SmagBoy How dense are you?
The charge of the Impeachment was "High Crimes and Misdemenors"
    High Crime = Felony Pergory
Misdemenor = Cover-up using the Office of the PotUS`s powers.

Where oh where is the sex? NO WHERE!
At least you "noticed" that he actually was guilty: of pergury at least!

Note: having an affair, even a mistress? NOT ILLEGAL!

Why even investigate that deal at all? Because he was a Democrat.
Sooo, Reagan was investigated by the EXACT SAME LAW because... Reagan was Democrat!
Watergate... (different a little bit because the Law I refer to was passed because of Watergate, but the process was very similar) Nixon was Democrat!

Oh those bigoted Repubs who refuse to... wait, what?

Several people went to jail for the Iran-Contra thing. Laws WERE broken! They were tried and convicted, good! Pardoned later... meh.

@SmagBoy I`m glad you`re "coming around" eh? Not to the "right" but the center IMO.

But, no conservative I know, on this site or IRL or on FB, etc., will ever admit wrong in their party or in their candidates...

Both sides suffer from this, but I offer 2 explainations for the "right wing":
#1: We don`t have to point out that "our guy" has done something wrong, the liberals pounce on the smallest "mistake"!
Imagined? Exagerated? Complete fabrication? It`s SHOUTED from every rooftop! Why add to that chorus?
#2: The MSM has swung SO FAR left since Nixon it`s unbelievable! The "right" is attacked from all sides, 24-7! They`ve developed "fortress mentality" which means you cannot open the door even a crack or else!

I have openly blamed Bush2 for some of his MANY mistakes (he made his fair share!) here.

Sorry for suggesting you`re "dense" my rude
