PinkRhoid, Clearly your thoughtlessness has failed you once again. My input is rule and all shall submit. When I write, everyone reads! My assessment is not opinion, it is law! And now I shall degree that you will forever be received as nothing more respected than dried snot. You have brought this upon yourself, you fool!

@that-other-guy that has no name worth mentioning, you are butt hair dandruff from this point to eternity. The great Mad Gremlyn hath spoken! Opinions, I laugh!

Afishman126, on you`re own philosophy of "call out the douchebag making fun of someone else`s language", I must now call you out. In your comment, the first letter after the second section in quotation marks is capitalised.

I didn`t see the point in all of this anyway. The mistake in the caption looks a lot like an auto correct problem.

Funnily enough, Chinchilla9, tyger9575`s comment was more grammatically correct than yours. It should have been "...every time he/she opens his/her mouth!" or "Average Americans absolutely BUTCHER..." You can`t mix singular and plural like that. "They" doesn`t refer to anything. The only noun previously referred to is singular. Normally, I`d let something like that slide, but I had to call out the douchebag making fun of someone else`s language use while "butchering" grammar himself.

@Mad Gremlyn - you talk bollocks. I``m a King fan, and I think `on writing` explains fairly clearly why King is a success when some other pretentious authors are not. He`s come out with some pretty awesome and far-fetched concepts, and then managed to weave around them realistic behaving characters.
So put up or shut up - there`s plenty of room on here for you to show us your writing talent with a short story of your own...

tyger9575: Are you kidding? The average American absolutely BUTCHERS the English language every time they open their mouths! The word you used, "jacktard", is a great example.

As an American, I wish the jacktards of the world would learn to speak English. `Have as good` instead of "half as good"? There isn`t a facepalm large enough. WTF?!?

You are a fool if you truly think your opinion defines him or his work. I`ll go as far as to say he does not have the most advanced writing level. As such he appeals to a much broader crowd. His popularity isn`t because he writes like Shakespeare, it`s because his stories are different and interesting. While it doesn`t seem unlikely that some of his old works might not thrill the desensitized, unimaginative youth of today you are delusional if you think your opinion is the basis on which all people your age think. He`s not for everyone, and clearly not you, but his book sales alone make you look a blathering idiot.
Ugh. I have read several of his books and still don`t understand why SK is so popular. King is tedious and predictable in my opinion. Maybe it`s a generational thing and his works were somehow surprising to an older generation but that`s a best case scenario in my opinion. King`s books are simply not great in my opinion. In the order of things, people say to a critic, "well, could you do better?!" And to that I have to say, yes, in my opinion. And beyond that, there are many better writers in my opinion so I don`t have the ability to top King. Many others have written better works and received far less praise in my opinion.
Fixed that for you.

@Mad gremlyn: nonsense. You can`t do better, or you would have already done it. There`s always the idiot who thinks he`s better, yet can`t show anything as proof.

There are definitely better writers than King, but there`s more to it than that. Books aren`t just words, it`s the whole that matters.

Mad Gremlyn - Annoyingly you state that like its a fact. He wouldn`t be so popular if people didn`t enjoy his numerous works.

You say people have written "better works with less praise". SHow me the empirical data that shows other writers are better, then we can take your slander seriously.

Admittedly almost all of his characters seem to be authors from Maine, NY, and fine if you don`t enjoy his work yourself, thats your right. But don`t come here stating your opinions like you know them to be fact. Its kind of insulting to people like myself who find his work to be gripping.

@Mad_Gremlyn, he admits most of his books aren`t great, he writes them so that he has the money to work on the ones he`s actually bothered about
