I`m not seeing the hype for this game or why it took so long to make. Considering this is Blizzard you`d think they`d have learned a thing or two about having enough servers ready.

but lampshadeshoe.its not an online game, sure you CAN connect online and play with friends. They just require you to be connected so they can spy on you.

Which is why ill never ever buy D3 :P

All this hype over Diablo III is dull and tiresome tbh, and the fact that the servers are mobbed isn`t anything unsurprising.

I`m a fan of Diablo (original) unlike most of these hypetrain jumperoners, but I think I`ll wait for a month or so until the noise cools down.

I saw a press release saying there may be up to a 40 sec wait to get on due to the high volume of people. Sad thing is, that`s too long for most players. Personally, I`ve sat around for hours waiting to log onto eve-online after a patch or on really heavy days, under a min is pretty damn good actually.

And this is NOT an MMO? Why the heck do you have to connect to a central server for it?

And this is NOT an MMO? Why the heck do you have to connect to a central server for it?

So they can control who is allowed to play it and when. So they can gather data on every player for marketing purposes. Basically, so that power remains with the publisher rather than the inconvenient old system of a customer having control over their use of what they`ve bought.

The excuse is piracy, that convenient catch-all excuse for everything, but it`s just an excuse.

It`s why I haven`t bought Diablo 3, although I want it. I bought Diablo, Diablo 2 and every expansion pack for them, but I won`t be buying Diablo 3 unless they remove the online requirement for an offline game.

@ Angillion online requirement for an offline game.

But its not and offline game. It is now a online game. With the ability for players to drop and and out at random it is no longer a offline game. Just think of it as d2 closed bnet now is the only option to play now. I agree its stupid they need to have a offline mode but w/e.

Also they could have easily tracked you play stats and everything else just as easily in d2 so for the people saying that its nothing new. Anything you do ont he internet is pretty much being logged by someone some where.

This is true, unfortunately. Even if I just want to play single and not use any online features, if the servers are down I can`t even do that. Damn anti-piracy measures. *shakes fist*
