Anyone ever try this and if so, does it work? Is the watermelon too strong?

Its better done with Metexa, as it crystallizes when its on low temp. Let the watermelon abosrb as much metexa as possible, then refrigerate the watermelon for min 2 hrs. Cut open, each slice will be shiny and sparkly because of the frozen metexa. Not to mention how drunk you will be after 2-3 pieces.

If you chose to do this let prople know that there is alcohol in it just incase some one has alcohol problems or there are children near by. I had some and never noticed the alcohol in it till I was trashed, it did not take much.

Watch out, if you use a pooty cheap vodka and you leave it for more than 24 hours, it will rot at super speeds and taste like it, too. My roommate and her friends were idiots.

@Shanir

..Yes? Nothing is stopping you haha

Prepare yourselves though and do it the day before. It takes a looong time, but SO yummy. My mom had a recipe that you just cut up the watermelon the night before in a mixture of vodka, sugar and mint leaves. Mmmm fantastic <3

I`d rather make the melon into a bong. But hey, I`m a criminal scum.

Haven`t done watermelon `punch` in years.
Another classic was Cherry Bombs. Soak maraschino cherries in vodka or gin for a month. Yum Yum
Yes it does work. Try it with a smoother vodka. BEWARE! you hardly taste the vodka......
I know what you mean. Vodka`s my danger drink for that very reason - vodka and coke just tastes like coke to me, and I can drink loads of it without realising I`m getting dangerously drunk. I haven`t touched the stuff since I was a teenager, and made myself really ill knocking it back, only to wake up feeling like death the next morning.

Yup. It`s a "Vodka Melon". Fill it with enough booze, to your taste, then put the cap back on and give it a turn every few hours.

Tried it twice and both times it was disgusting. Rather just take the shot of vodka and be done with it.

It`s easy to mess it up and make it way too strong. I had one where each bite tasted like a shot of vodka.

It works just fine. You make a hole in the watermelon, leave the cap, pour in 0.5-1l depending on the strength you want and the size of the watermelon. Sometimes you have to dig out some of the yummy stuff first. Then you close the watermelon with the cap and put in the fridge for at least 24 hours. 2-3 days is best. Then take it out, cut as usual and enjoy. ;)

I didn`t know watermelons were such hardcore alcoholics.

@gonzoen ...OR you could put it in the fridge, which will also dehydrate it, plus it won`t spoil.

Doesn`t work if you use a completely fresh melon straight from the market. If you want it to work, you should try to dehydrate it in whatever way you think would work. I`ve succesfully dehydrated a melon somewhat by leaving it in the hot sun for half a day. Any longer than that, it`ll just spoil instead.

Hell yeah it works. Plugging watermelons is a great way to bump up a picnic or gathering, and it will f*ck you up.
