@5Cats Read the description, it`s CGI. Regardless, this just irritated me.

When there aren`t any car crashes on the ground, it`ll be time to seriously consider flying cars.

A slight bump on the ground leads to minor damage that can be repaired with a small amount of money. The same slight bump in the air leads to two falling cars crashing into whatever or whoever is unlucky enough to be under them, killing people and causing major property damage.

Besides, in effect there is less space in the air. You can`t have aircraft flying anywhere near as close to each other as cars on a road are.

    Cannot possibly be real...

...which is why it says "CGI presentation" in the caption. Try looking up CGI.

If they did make it work, it would be cool...but only if you live in that city or areas with the specific minerals with which the car reacts. In other areas without those minerals close enough to the surface it`s useless.

Neat idea, here`s the issue, power consumption. Doesn`t matter what the fuel source is, it`s the power needed to lift it off the ground is going to higher than the energy to move forward. Sure you`ll save a bundle on tires and suspension, but what`s happens when you run out of juice and it bottoms out, what`s that going to cost you to fix.

Oh, missed that! "CGI" I guess I`m just not `hip` to these `new jive` terms!

ASlo: it still would never work as "cleanly" as shown. To lift 600 pounds you need 600 pounds of thrust...

@Angilion: I think the air has lots more space! You can `stack` different directions at different heights: Going North? Fly at 5,000 feet...
There`s no pedestrians, deer, potholes, ice & snow. Ducks and geese, not too many!
Computers can monitor every veichle in the air, keeping them a safe distance apart. Auto-pilot is a MUST! lolz!
The worst parts will be take off and landings, that`s where the real danger is.

Oh man ! Asian people piloting flying cars? They haven`t mastered the terrestrial ones that have been around for a while now.

@fudgelord Try driving in a major chinese city. You wouldn`t last one minute and it would be hours before anyone came to drag your body to the curb.

@Angilion: I think the air has lots more space! You can `stack` different directions at different heights: Going North? Fly at 5,000 feet...

And the people travelling at 78.6 degrees intersecting your northwards flight?

How about those travelling at 77 degrees? 105 degrees?

It would be much simpler if all cars were controlled by central computers and only allowed to fly in straight lines on a compass point direction, but that`s not what people think of when they think about flying cars.

As you probably know, there sometimes are some issues with congestion of air space in some areas at the moment.

There isn`t scope to have 1,000 times as many aircraft in the skies.

There`s no pedestrians, deer, potholes, ice & snow. Ducks and geese, not too many!

There`s also no stopping and no safe way to have any one plane within anywhere near any other plane at any time. 1000 feet is considered "close" when it comes to planes. It`s a lot more space than a road system in which cars weren`t allowed within 1000 feet of any other car, but it`s not a lot more space than the road system we currently have.

Computers can monitor every veichle in the air, keeping them a safe distance apart. Auto-pilot is a MUST! lolz!
The worst parts will be take off and landings, that`s where the real danger is.

Which removes the main attraction - flying your own flying car. Otherwise, what`s the point? It takes longer (you won`t be able to fly direct and you`ll need to wait for a landing to be allocated to you), you still have traffic jams (holding patterns, whatever you want to call them).
