Grendel is right, (never thought I`d get a chance to say THAT) if he had gotten his information from the bottom of a bag of kittens, if the information is correct, he is still right. It may be the case that the kid should not have had his phone out in class, but he is right regardless.

Ozmose-"the fact that the argument is invalid, because the entitled little ****stain shouldn`t be playing with his toys in class."

So, because YOU don`t like how the evidence was obtained, you beleive the argument is invalid? How convenient.

Cell phones are a fact of life, and as long as they are not a disruption it`s not an issue. In this case, WITHOUT the usage of the phone as a recording device, this Indoctrinator would still be in the classroom, shouting down and belittling anyone who didn`t bow to her narrow, biased view and attempting to dictate what constitutes `facts`. (of course, you`re all for that).

Any person should realize that any public forum is open to recording.

You aren`t very bright are you.
I wasn`t directing my post at any "messenger".
When I was in school, if someone brought a toy into class, the teacher took it away. End of story.
I was simply impressing the fact that the argument is invalid, because the entitled little ****stain shouldn`t be playing with his toys in class.

So remind me again how taking neither side of an argument = "Drinking the Kool-aid"?

Well, I listened to the whole thing.

I live in the St. Louis area. I am surrounded by failing schools and one of my best friends teaches in one of them. Here, we have a student who is inquisitive, thinks for himself, can defend his position, and knows at least a little bit about the Constitution. We could use a lot more students like him.

And we have a teacher who takes that potentially bright young mind and does all she can to crush it.

This was depressing.

PinkRhoid-"I didn`t know there was such a thing left, teachers who actually take pride in teaching and want ti instill knowledge."

Actually, there are, and I would even go so far as to say they are in the majority.

It`s just the idiot `I got me a public job for life` and the Unions that defend them that I have a problem with.

My wife is a teacher (Nursing Instructor). She`s the teacher that all incoming students hear horror stories about. Who they dread. But by the time they pass her classes they have a healthy respect for her and what she`s taught them. And most contact her after they have jobs telling her, "I saved a life because YOU held me to a higher standard."

leesah-"due to the liberal love of unions, this hideous excuse for a teacher has been suspended...With pay."

That`s nothing.

We had a local case here where a teach (female) was convicted of statutory rape of a student and continued to be payd while in prison for THREE YEARS (of a 10 years sentance) before they could figure out how to stop her paychecks.

The Union fought it all the way. Their stance? The teacher had the legal `right` to continue to receive her pay until such time as she could appeal her firing (which, of course, she could not do until she was RELEASED). It took a new law by the state legislature to stop her paychecks (but not until she`d been paid $164,000 while in prison).

This is the only portion of your posts I disaggree with.

This Indoctrinator (i.e. `teacher`) is a double-minority AND a Union Member. She`s the closest thing to un-firable.

The WORST she can expect for her stupidity, if it continues AND continues to be an embarassment, is to get a `Rubber Room` assignment..i.e getting paid for showing up somewhere where there`s no kids and no job, but still collect a paycheck.

She might, MIGHT, lose her job if she were to murder a student in full view of the principle, 20 witnesses and news cameras (maybe not even then). Without the news cameras she`d just end up being `the victim`.

On the other hand. Isn`t this more about a teacher pushing her political view on her student when she does not have the right to? She`s dumb, and bound to get fired one of these days. There is not logic to her argument, and therefore she shouldn`t be teaching.

The idea that a US citizen cannot "disrespect" a sitting President is one of the most asinine things I`ve ever heard another US citizen say. That`s one of the reasons the 1st Amendment exists. And for the teacher to say the kid shouldn`t "slander" Obama...slander of a public figure would require not only defamatory language, but proof of falsity and actual malice on the part of the kid, meaning he either knew what he was saying was false, or he had a reckless disregard for the truth. None of those things are even close to being present in this scenario.
Everyone wonders why the US has fallen so far behind other developed nations in education levels...it`s because we have such low standards for those we employ to educate our children. This woman should lose her job for being so ignorant. If you choose to be ignorant, fine. But one should not be permitted to occupy a tax-payer funded position in which one`s ignorance is forced upon unsuspecting children on a

I don`t believe it was the Pubs who lobbied to pass laws making it illegal for me to drive without a seatbelt. I don`t believe it`s Pubs who are lobbying to eliminate the tobacco industry. Pubs want to involve themselves with what goes on in our bedroom. Dems want to involve themselves in how we live our lives. So don`t come on here and talk about Dems and "personal freedoms" like they`re fighting for ours because they`re not.

I just want to say that, as someone who was educated in the public school system, that this is not exemplary of what public education is or can be. A high-quality public education system is possible, but when uneducated pieces of poo like this teacher who only care about the paycheck and benefits are hired, it drats the whole system up.

The reason kids are in school is to learn. So to all of you saying this kid is dumb, you`re wrong! That teacher should be there educating them and she is nothing but pushing her own agenda; that agenda is wrong. You can say what ever you want about a president. Unless, of course you threaten them. Even then you might just get investigated, look at Ted Nugent. She sounds like she has less of an education than that of her students. This teacher needs to be fired period!

That is if they are familiar enough with the policies and not just swept up by the religion and racism fueled hype that surrounds it. Yes, I remember the Dixie Chicks, who badmouthed the President and absolutely NOTHING happened to. They didn`t go to jail. They weren`t investigated.

The ONLY thing that happenned to them was they saw a loss in sales because of all the people they pissed off. That wasn`t anything Bush did; that was the pubic expressing its dissaproval via their wallets.

Strange, there hasn`t been a mention of race until YOU brought it up. Could it be a sad attempt on your part that, when you can`t argue the facts, you drag race into it for the soul purpose of yelling `RACIST`? (Boy, like THAT`S never happened before).

5Cats, you don`t live in the USA so you really can`t speak about the tone of our politics as anything but an outsider. Anyone who criticized the president during the first couple years after 9/11 was labeled as anti-American. It only changed when people realized how big of a mess he`d gotten us into in Iraq.

Oh, and the anti-war protests did continue. Obama`s reluctance to pull out of Afghanistan has been one of his biggest mistakes.
