LOL @ people that act like Obama did this himself. Funny times.

Did you know?

This is not that big of a deal. Preaching so much about other people buying into everything they read and then letting this skewed story work you up makes for great irony. Stop drinking the anti-Obama kool-aid, people.

No, eddy, I assume they have the skills, only that they don`t use them--which is a habit.

5Cats, I didn`t need to explain anything. I was clear from the beginning. My apologies for not writing in easily-digestible fifth grade level sound bites. I forgot that I`m mostly dealing with the iPod generation here.

My first post said the following and only poor reading habits can make it anything other than what it was, "the WH media team`s job is to advocate for the job the president and his team and cabinet are doing. Obama not only didn`t invent this, he`s no different than any of them who`ve come before when it comes to self-promotion and self back slapping."

@SmagBoy1: Well, at least 3 readers thought you were saying exactly that: other presidents altered bios, so the error was on your side.
Since you`ve explained otherwise, fine, but don`t blame the reader for not understanding.

@OldOllie is correct: The Obamanaughts trying desperately to "spin" out of this hole is hysterically funny!

Auburn, I was very clear, actually, about the fact that I was talking about media teams expanding the President`s brand, about working his public image, in crass and shameful ways. I compared the actions outlined in this link to past president`s efforts, and those are the words I used. I didn`t aim my initial comments at anyone, and I even specifically pointed out that ALL presidents do it, so that I wasn`t even making it a DEM/REPUB thing. And I definitely didn`t aim my comments at anyone here until they went after me. I`m not wrong here, and reviewing my posts with even basic reading skills will make obvious what I was saying. Just because I didn`t fall into the typical argument doesn`t make wrong what I stated.

This is pretty much the first time anyone`s seen this happen.

Don`t be a douche.

leesah, only an extremely simple-minded git would have assumed I meant that every president ever has edited the WH website to update their bios. I was very clear about the fact that, even asking
which presidential media team in the past *hasn`t* done this (or, you know, the non-Internet equivalent back in the days prior to the Interwebz)?
And, apparently I bother to think about things long enough to properly use the website`s coding methods, too. But, I wouldn`t expect someone who needs everything spoonfed to them in exact detail to understand that, either.

I have a few things to say about this. First of all, I don`t so much see it beyond the pale for an administration to tote its own accomplishments, even in the context of stemming from or carrying on the legacy of former presidents. But I have to say it`s interesting that the White House points out Truman, but not the guy who re-instituted armed-forces segregation - Woodrow Wilson. That`s right, the same guy who ushered in the era of the Federal Reserve. Obama has a lot more in common with this guy, despite the racial incongruity, than he ever will with Truman.

Secondly, I`m not sure boosting one`s administration on the back of efforts the likes of Johnson`s really secures one`s credibility. Medicare is NOT a good thing, and Johnson would have never considered something of the nature that is the `Affordable Care Act.`

Thirdly Reagan - I`m pretty sure he would have secured said tax reform by LOWERING the secretary`s rate, not RAISING the CEO`s. Could be wrong on that

It`s just a "Did You Know?" section that lists various facts and their relevance to the Obama Administration...

As usual american politics is all about getting the furthest away from actual debates and facts.

Next up: Republicans think Obama edits the Whitehouse website, but don`t credit him with decisions he was actually involved in.

Ohhhh, we were supposed to guess that you were being vague and ambiguous to detract from the actuality of the situation in order defend your beloved pseudo-christ. Sorry, my b!

@jamie76 That`s funny because Bush Jr. actually has higher grades and scores than Obama. What does your comment say about Obama then?

This story in the link was pretty funny, but not nearly as funny as the liberal Obama apologists here all making excuses and trying to explain how there`s nothing to this.

If any of those who are spewing hatred against the president even bothered to go to the website, they`d see that information was NOT inserted into those bios, there was simply a `did you know` box. This is standard and just more learning about the current president.

when Bush Jr. was in office the "Did you Know" sections said.

"Did you know: President Bush once counted to 10 and only needed help with the first nine numbers."

question...is the white house website a historical website, or a PR website for the current website?

if it`s the latter, he`s well within his right to do so, as will the next president who comes into office, and the one following...it`s not unexpected that there will be plenty of references to the current position holder

and it`s not as if they are etched in store or some ancient document...they WILL be edited and altered as the position changes...this isn`t news

if you really look at those bios, his little factoids are only labeled as "did you know?" and are in their own blue box. so im willing to bet these will be removed after he is out of office. this is really nothing to get ones panties in a know about.

Listen Capt. America Jr. Fan Club President, I am still wondering what your obsession with the US is? I am betting if you spent half as much time involved in Canadian affairs then...well Canada would probably toss your ass out for annoying them to no ends but still, that fact does not mean you should poke your ultra-conservative nose over the fence and bug the chit outta us all the damn time!

and yes, you may call yourself Capt. America Jr...it fits you pretty well because like Capt. America, a fictional character, neither of you are in fact real Americans.

Oh, I`m sorry, 5Cats, I thought that by providing an exact quote with name was sufficient. Slap that in the worldwide google machine and you`ll have all the links you want. I don`t need to do your research for you, nor do I care enough to. I suppose that you`re right. Obama is the antichrist. No other president has ever been crass, manipulated media or done anything wrong. Well, no Republican president has, anyway. I understand now. Got it.

And, leesah, you got me, too. That`s *exactly* what I meant, precisely, that no president had ever done exactly that one, single thing! I *clearly* wasn`t talking about manipulating media or over-claiming things about themselves, or generally promoting their own brands. I wasn`t saying that at all.

You`re both exactly right and entirely brilliant. Thank you both for correcting me. I feel much more enlightened not\w.

No, @Kain1 he`s inserting himself into THEIR HISTORIES in a feeble effort to compare himself to them! Footnote or not, it`s pathetic!
that EVERY president and many vice presidents do this
@SmagBoy: LINK or apologise! You spew this crapola a lot, time to back it up or stfu!

It is in the "did you know" section of each biography, you know, where little bits of information about that President are given.

So anyone, who has a problem must be assuming it`s not in the footnotes? what kind of idiotic, arrogant nonsense is that?

I have a problem with it. I knew it was in the footnotes - every article I have seen on this, and I have read several, has been clear about this, yet still indicated that the author has a problem with this. Had it been in the main text it would have been far more crass, indeed, but even Obama`s sycophants are not quite that dumb.

"which presidential media team in the past *hasn`t* done this"

Which presidential media team hasn`t directly inserted their current boss into the official presidential biographies on the official white house website?

Well gee, I sure can`t think of one beside Obama!

Perhaps the better question, then, leesah, is this: which presidential media team in the past *hasn`t* done this (or, you know, the non-Internet equivalent back in the days prior to the Interwebz)?

An example, which you can verify yourself? "[The Reagan Administration] was a PR outfit that became president and took over the country. And to the degree that the Constitution forced them to do things like make a budget, run foreign policy and all that, they sort of did it. But their first, last and overarching activity was public relations." Leslie Janka, a deputy White House press secretary under Ronald Reagan.

And I`m not picking on Reagan, just the first one I found. Come on people. This is nothing new, noting out of the ordinary, and nothing even worth a single bit of thought, except to try to bash Obama. Or, were it four years ago, Bush, or, you know, before that, Clinton, etc., etc., etc...

Anyone who has a problem with this didn`t take a moment to go to the whitehouse.gov and see that the commentary is NOT added into the biographies themselves. It is located in a footnote section, at the bottom of the page, after the `official bio` is finished.

"These are posted in the "Did you know" section,"

Check out all the Presidential bios that DON`T include Obama. No "Did You Know" sections. That "section" was only JUST put there SPECIFICALLY to include Obama.

"What`s the big deal?"

Probably that he`s the only president in the history of US presidents who feels the need to insert campaign ads into personal biographies of former US presidents. Can you imagine if every president altered the former president`s biographies to suit themselves?

"On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. Today the Obama administration continues to protect seniors and ensure Social Security will be there for future generations. A few years before Obama, however, Bush signed into law the Homeland Security Act of 2006. And about ten years before that Reagan called for fairer tax codes. Although 100 years before any of this happened, George Washington was the first president ever. And that`s President Roosevelt`s personal biography, brought to you by everyone in office since then!"

Interesting how this piece doesn`t point out that EVERY president and many vice presidents do this--the WH media team`s job is to advocate for the job the president and his team and cabinet are doing. Obama not only didn`t invent this, he`s no different than any of them who`ve come before when it comes to self-promotion and self back slapping.

Maybe you can`t make it up, but you can get it wrong IAB... These are posted in the "Did you know" section, not in the presidential biographies themselves. It lets people know what the Pres. is doing today.
