Joe Rogan Slams Dr. Drew`s Views On Pot

Joe calls it as he sees it in his usual "unfiltered" way. Is Joe right or wrong I-A-B?

Just because you`re a board certified physician doesn`t mean you`re God. I know plenty of people in the medical community, having worked in it for 5 years now, who can`t think for themselves and so they spew whatever the AMA and CDC tells them.

I like reading the comments here attacking Dr Drew. It`s kind of funny. I mean, he`s a board certified physician who has been an addiction medicine specialist and running a clinic for decades, and you guys are... what? Grocery baggers? Maybe a few of you have a two year degree? Guess what, he deals with people addicted to substances, marijuana included, every single day. He`s not against pot use, but he understands, unlike a lot of you, that some people simply can`t handle it. So instead of seeing or hearing someone with a less than fanatic devotion to supporting marijuana and immediately spewing vitriol, take a minute and do some research for your own sake.

I`ve had migraines since I was six years old, and I`m now twenty.

I`ve been on Tylenol 3s, Tylenol 4s, percoset, oxycontin, vicodin, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, morphine, and fentanyl over the years and none of them helped. In fact, it just made me a prescription drug junkie.

My mom had actually suggested I smoke a bit of pot whenever I have a migraine. And it works. I`ve been doing this for about six months now and it has never failed to get rid of my migraines, no matter how strong they may be.
So for me, weed has been my lifesaver really.

@BostonKaiser

Your story is similar to mine except I continue to smoke weed because I can still manage to take care of my kids perfectly fine with it. However, I have never, and will never, done coke, heroin, acid, shrooms, crack, etc. I have no interest in it. Quite frankly, I can`t consume alcohol. I`m allergic to it and hate the fact that I have a hangover within a couple hours of my first drink. Weed is that outlet.

As of now I don`t smoke because I`m trying for a 3rd kid. I quit without a problem, just like every other time I`ve stopped using weed. And just so people are aware, I stopped using weed for multitudes of reasons that do not involve wanting to stop smoking. It was usually for a more important reason like finding a job, trying to filter out my sperm, or not having any.
But when people say no one has ever died of it, I`m sorry. That`s wrong. Extreme cases, but it has happened.
Untrue. I challenge you to find even one example of someone dying from marijuana use alone and nothing else. Any deaths attributed to weed are due to things like driving while high, or the pot being laced with a worse drug. But I sense that your point is that even *if* it caused a few deaths, that number would be orders of magnitude less than deaths from anything else.

Yes, I smoked weed just about everyday for two or three years and then just stopped instantly because I became an adult ha. I had absolutely no "withdrawal" symptoms; I just wanted to quit so I could save money and get poo done, so I did.

Pot is stronger today. B.S. 21 Jump Street. It is just that fact that novices can grow stronger pot with chemicals but your buzz doesn`t last as long as good soil, sunshine and horsepoo grown marijuana.

I had the exact experience as Patchouly and Mykunter. I was practically a Rasta for over a decade. Wake-n-bake, smoke all day and night up until bed time. Then my girlfriend told me she was pregnant. Quit the next day (`cause I realized I better get my sh*t together and support my kid) and never had any repercussions. Sure, I was cranky and grouchy for about a week, but that was one of the reasons I smoked; it mellowed me out. And I never once considered doing coke, heroin, or anything else. Hell, I wish I could stop drinking Coke as easily as I quit smoking pot. I go without that for more than a day and I`m in a bad, bad way. Dr. Drew is a complete tool. I bet he`d have no problem filling someone up with pharmaceuticals, but smoke a joint? Throw them in prison!

"I have yet to find the source for this claim."

Sorry, Patch, I should have sourced. I took that quote from the `Legalize It` website. It`s meant to show how few people have died with pot as the direct cause over an 8 year period, compared to the 100,000 or so that die every year from alcohol and 800,000 from cigarette related issues. In context it paints a realistic picture of how vastly much less harmful it is.

But when people say no one has ever died of it, I`m sorry. That`s wrong. Extreme cases, but it has happened.

I don`t smoke it myself, but I think it should be legal. That`s never going to happen unless potheads stop speaking in absolutes and anecdotes, and start dealing in real statistics, like the Legalize It website seems to and Joe Rogan does not.

These people have bad info, pot is not addictive physically, mentally perhaps for some, but not all. I smoke several times a day to help with physical pain, and it helps me eat. Do I need something better after 7 years of heavy smoking, and 15 years of smoking it period, nope, still good enough.

Some people are stupid all the time, what they are intoxicated with doesn`t matter, they are still stupid, just more so than normal.

I was stoned for the better part of 20 years. Got a degree, never wrecked my car, never had trouble with the law, got married, held a good job and managed to pay off a house in ten years. I don`t touch it really anymore. Maybe a few tokes a year with friends and good food. It`s not the weed, it`s the person and how they react.

It was painful to listen to those guys.

You can get addicted to anything but I don`t think that is even the real point. The point is being high or drunk or otherwise impaired makes learning pretty difficult. I don`t care if someone wants to refuse an education but if you are gonna do that then get out of school so you can stop wasting the time and resources of those who want to learn.

I was at it all day, every day, for greater than a decade. Then I stopped... no problem.

Now excuse me while I go fix myself a gin and tonic. I get kinda edgy if I don`t have a couple around this time of day...

"I`m an electrical engineer who has smoked for 8 years, and yes I do have a "problem" when it comes to weed"

You having a problem with weed does not = a problem with weed as a product. Some people have a problem with eating sofa cushions... Some people have a problem masturbating on shoes. We don`t ban those products do we? We don`t put them in prison do we?

I smoked pot...lots of it. At one point I was smoking a half, quarter a day. After several years of being a pot smoker, I decided I wanted to clean up (it was illegal and my wife and I wanted to start a family). I quit smoking pot that day and haven`t done it since.

There is no addictive qualities to pot. There was no withdrawal symptoms at all. I have an extremely addictive personality (took me years to quit smoking cigarettes and I was even addicted to the caffeine in pop) and I was able to be a full time smoker one day then completely stopped the next, never to smoke again.

"It definitely is addictive, and apparently I`m an idiot/loser according to Joe Rogan. I`m an electrical engineer who has smoked for 8 years, and yes I do have a "problem" when it comes to weed."

Horse poo. I have on and off smoked weed for 15 years. It is not addictive. It is fun, and I like things that are fun. Just like TV, games etc. And I enjoy the social aspect of it. Like having a beer with a friend at the bar, its no different.

I stopped smoking for 6 years when I was 25. I did for work purposes. I never had withdraws, I never had any physical reaction from lack of at all.

I smoke because I choose too. Not because my body is addicted. That`s complete horse poo.

There has also been found to be no link between smoking marijuana and lung cancer.

"8. At present it is estimated that marijuana`s LD-50 is around 1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.

"9. In practical terms, marijuana cannot induce a lethal response as a result of drug-related toxicity."

Small number over a long period of time, but not 0. Seriously, it`s a mostly harmless drug, not completely harmless. The sooner folks get that through their heads the easier it`s going to be to legalize it. You guys are terrible advocates for your cause.

I have heard Rogan`s arguement before all pot heads always call any studies on the bad side of weed "silly" and they call the people "losers" for not smoking weed, because I believe that pot heads and pot growers don`t want this "fun drug" to be known to have a down side, and like dm2754 said Dr.Drew is a doctor and Rogan is a stand up comic...gonna go with doctor drew here...

Cannabis is not a gateway drug. I know plenty of people that have smoked for decades and never went on to any other type of drug. There has not been 1 recorded death where cannabis was the contributing factor.

"There are no bodies" is the most awesome arguement I`ve ever heard. Accurate, funny, and an arrow right-to-the-point!

Though, like everyone I`d say it`s an adult vice, not for kids. Which, like alcohol, means they`ll sneak a bit of Dad`s supply to experiment. That`s normal.

Let`s be honest, high school students shouldn`t do it, just like they shouldn`t booze it up. They should wait until they`re old enough not to abuse it.
