I actually do say "Sorry" when asking someone to move. >_< Followed by a "Thanks." I usually just say it at the same time, while I`m passing by them.

if this is in reference to when someone is in your way/almost bump into someone, then the British way would be "sorry". I lived in the states for 5 years and the phrase "excuse me" is just completely rude, it suggests that its my fault

How is this true? In this part of America, talking like that will get you a punch in the face.

@TheShgn2

Depends, perdoname is informal, perdon works in both formal and informal settings.

Disculpe is the best one when talking to unknown people.

In Mexico, it`s perdoname, not perdone.

This definitely doesn`t represent all of America. Some of the people in larger cities may act like this, but "Americans" are usually the minorities in larger cities these days so who are the people being rude?

Americans really aren`t that impolite...

When I was in Italy, nobody held the door open for me, and looked at me funny when I held the door open for them to enter a public place.
I don`t know if it was because I was an obvious American tourist, or if it isn`t a culture norm, but it`s definitely something we do in the USA. If you`re the first person to enter a public place while a stranger is entering as well, you hold the door open. >.> Can someone please explain this?

The only experience the writer of this thing has ever had of Americans must have been in New York City, because everywhere else they`re excessively apologetic.

Italian say "permesso" only when they enter a place where they are unknow. The real translation of excuse me is " scusa" or "perdono" or if you want to be poetic "chiedo venia"(but if you use this last people can think you are crazy).
