Being gay is not a choice. Coming out in an institution full on unaware - socially retarded -neanderthals like high school is your choice.

    1. Why should gays get a "free pass"? It has been proven the obesity has a lot more to with DNA and RNA then diet. But everyone rips on fat people. Even call it a sin.
    2. If we believe that you are born with a sexual preference then it can only be true that it can be any sexual preference. Such only being sexually attracted to cars or horses or children or even the dead. Just think about it.

    A. Define "a lot more." Your personal definition MIGHT have been proven somewhere, but it`s doubtful. Diet will frequently circumvent hereditary traits.

I enjoy killing people. It`s a preference of mine. If you want to equate homosexuality to pedo/zoo/necro I`ll equate pedo/zoo/necro to homicide. See, my homicidal instincts are a threat to your survival and societies safety. Pedo/zoo/necro are close enough to survival and safety concerns in my mind that I don`t care if you`re a born serial killer or monkey fraker, you`re gonna have to suppress it.

Gay men aren`t going to give me aids like a monkey fraker screwing my wife might. They`re not going to shoot me for fun like a killer might. They`re not going to ruin my kids childhood. They`re not going to desecrate my memories.

"It has been proven the obesity has a lot more to with DNA and RNA then diet."
In what universe was this proven? The genetic make up of the US comes from around the globe, yet the people of a specific genetic makeup left behind are not as fat as the ones who come here.

1 in a gazillion might have a thyroid issue, but for the vast majority, it`s because they eat too damn much. But we have a cultural climate that says it`s not right to expect peple to take responsability for their own chioces. It`s the tobacco companies fault they smoke, it`s McDonald`s fault they`re fat, it`s the gov`ments fault for .

Yes? Are you that daft? Do you really think choosing/not choosing to perform an act defines who you are? Just because I don`t drink doesn`t mean I`m not an alcoholic. Just because I live in denial and won`t have homosexual sex doesn`t mean I`m not gay.

@your scientific research. There`s also not much scientific research done on whether or not I like things in my rectum either. Yet somehow I`m comfortable stating I don`t. Fund the research to prove homosexuality isn`t something you`re born with if you want. For some reason, I doubt you`d actually get any monetary returns on the outcome of that research. Perhaps that`s why there isn`t much being done in said field, eh?

Do you think that maybe, we can all just shut the damn door and keep our sex lives private already?

I have never asked anyone to approve of what goes on in my bedroom other than the woman I was with at the time.

Can we all agree that David Cross can go suck a d1ck, whether he chooses to suck it or feels compelled to suck it by genetics, without telling everyone about it and asking for their approval?

    dm2754 - I watched your link. . . and?
Nothing definitive. That guy rambled on with a lot of "possibly" "maybe" and "our best guess".

Personal observation, I`ve never met a fat person yet who did not over eat. And what they did eat was poorly chosen. And we`ve all heard of the obese people who finally got sick of their `condition` and did something about it. Taking control of their life and losing weight with better choices.

Even if it is genetic, that just means you have to recognize the limits of your own body and feed it accordingly. Like a diabetic who has to watch his diet. It still boils down to personal responsability for your life.

True, no matter what the reason why someone is fat there is a way to fix it. But its harder for some then it is for others. If you are genetic predisposed to being fat you will have to fight against yourself you’re whole life just as some gays fight with how they are. My point was is we born with any kind of predisposed behaviors let’s not judge ANYONE for them

    Homosexuality is genetic.

You state that with such confidence that you must know what variation of what gene(s) cause homosexuality...right?

So, feel free to share the knowledge that you have. I`d also be interested in how you found it and nobody else did, not even the experts with well equipped laboratories who are researching various aspects of genetics.

In reality, nobody really knows what causes homosexuality. It`s not entirely dissimilar to left-handedness - a small but not negligable minority, an uncertain cause and far too much read into it by far too many people. Although which hand a person is better with is much more important because it has genuine, inherent effects in many aspects of the real world.

@Justin & @Scuzoid: It`s not the way this clown presents it: you don`t "one day" make a choice, ok? It`s "learned" over a long time, from childhood into adulthood! Puberty plays a big role too. (of course!)

The way humans learn things is poorly understood actually. Why do we remember some things but forget others? idk! But something as COMPLEX as sexual orientation simply CANNOT be genetic! That would make it an "instinct" and really, seriously proven impossible.

Also if it is "genetic" then that would make it a "disease" since (by definition) homosexuals cannot replicate their DNA (reproduce). I`M NOT CLAIMING THIS! Just pointing out what YOU GUYS are actually saying.

I can agree with you. I absolutely think homosexuals are born that way in most scenarios and in that case homosexuality has to be considered a disease. Because if everyone would have been born homosexual a few decades ago (before in vitro, etc) the human race would have been basically wiped out in a few generations. Anything that can wipe out your entire species has to be looked at that way.

However that being said, I don`t think in the rate that it occurs now that there is anything wrong with it. And unlike you, I don`t see any reason to discriminate against homosexuals in any way whatsoever. Some of my good friends are gay and some of the best people I have ever known. If they want to commit to each other I don`t care how or where they do it. Neither should anyone else.

He makes his point effectively, but I just don`t feel that homosexuals getting bullied at school is as big of a deal as everyone makes it out to be. I also am not 100% convinced that sexual preference is genetic, but I don`t think it`s something that can just be `chosen`. (Although I think there are some people who do `choose` it.)

@Gerry, my mother is overweight due to a thyroid issue. She was born with this issue. She eats 1 time a day and it`s definitely not over-eating. I am obese but it is do to a genetic disease called a1ad. This attacked my liver and has caused me to put on a lot of weight(water weight) that I can`t shake.

I do not disagree that people are born with their sexual preference but to say all fat people choose to be that way, because of over-eating, it just ignorant and stupid.

Honestly haven`t thought about it, but we had lots of homosexual guys and gals at my high school. Not a one was ever bullied as far as I know, and I was friends with quite a few of them at the time. So am I to understand schools have become LESS tolerant to homosexuality in the last 15 years?

Show me where the homosexual gene is in the their DNA/RNA and than I`ll believe it. Untill that happens, I choose to believe it comes from how you are raised. Because they don`t want to be hated. It is easier to hate someone that makes a choice then it is to hate someone for something they have no control over. That is why it is easy to hate on (most) fat people.

    EgalM

I so completely disagree with you. How do you explain families that have straight and gay children. You saying somehow they raised them so completely differently that they chose two extreme polar choices? I have seen little kids that you know are going to be gay. Plus I`ve met gay guys that just look gay, and not clothes or hair, I mean bone structure. Their voices are gay. Their movements are gay. You saying you can affect someone`s voice and looks by how you raise them?

@EgalM Show me the anti-incest gene and I`ll believe it. Yada yada yada.

There are suggestions such gene exists. There are suggestions it or something about us (in reality pretty much all living species) affects pheromone`s we give off preventing us from being sexually aroused by relatives, but in the end, there`s no definite proof.

I can`t quite figure out why people are CERTAIN homosexuality is something you learn. There is no proof either way so it`s a decision you have to come to based off of personal circumstance. Personally, I know there isn`t a man on this planet who could arouse me so intimately I wouldn`t be wishing he was actually a woman. For that reason I`m CERTAIN I was born straight and because of that it`s not a hard leap to make the opposite determination for some other party.

@HolyGod: That makes no sense to me. Skin colour, hieght, weight, eye colour, hair colour, ALL these things and more are causes for HATE! Yet they all have more to do with DNA than sexual orientation.

    Proving it`s genetic won`t change a thing.

How do YOU explain fetishes? How can one thing be "genetic" while another identical thing is "choice"?
I say: all sexual orientations are by choice. Possibly influenced by DNA, but that`s a far cry from them being "genetic" ok?

So I`ve tried to imagine I was a nurture before nature proponent. My arguments include
"God wouldn`t make gay humans(gay members of other species are okay though.)"
"The human body wouldn`t evolve traits counterproductive to reproduction(ignoring congenital defects that do just that, for a species seeking only reproduction, we managed to alter our appearance frequently enough where probability of reproducing based on physicality seems to change decade to decade.)"
"I decide who I am, so must the gays.(Back to the reality you aren`t defined by your actions, you`re defined by yourself. An artist working at the post office is still an artist if that`s how that person views themselves. An author isn`t the fat man just because he`s fat. A closeted gay is still gay.)"

I`d really like to know from those who refuse to accept homosexuality as anything but your parents screwing you up as a kid, why do you think that?

And what exactly is the point in stating this? The point of the David Cross quote is "Kid is born gay. Gay hurts no one except when the ignorant hurt kid. Don`t be ignorant." It`s irrelevant whether you`re born fat, gay, straight, aroused by children, or a pot head. Being gay still doesn`t hurt anyone. So why exactly shouldn`t someone choose to act on it? Just so you don`t have to make the conscious choice to give them a "free pass"?

I don`t judge people based soley on their sexual preference, but I get kind of suspicious when a lot of people are militantly claiming that homosexuality is not a choice,(which I don`t really think that it is - I just don`t think it`s soley genetic) and then you have people who just seem to turn gay overnight. My personal opinion is that people see how prevalent this topic is in the media, and think that they can grab some quick and easy attention off of it, but I don`t really know.

@HolyGod I`m not saying that I`m going to discriminate against people who claim to have chosen it, I`m just saying it contradicts what a lot of people, such as the guy in this picture, are kicking and screaming about.

Here`s a good example of "born that way". Google David Reimer. People have an inherent sense of who they are. If Reimer always knew, deep inside, he was supposed to be a man despite the several years of social conditioning to tell him otherwise, isn`t it also possible that sexuality works in the same fashion?

Another argument that has been put out there is the size of the pituitary gland. In homosexual men, the pituitary gland has been shown to be smaller than that of his heterosexual counterpart. There are other factors as well, but those are just a few I`d like to share.

Personally, I think that sometimes it`s a choice and sometimes it isn`t. But to blanketly say it`s one way or another is stupid.

@notorious98 I think it`s choice but not `choice`. I know that doesn`t really make sense, but my opinion is that it`s not something 100% biological and determined at birth, but it`s not also something that someone can just choose any day of the week.

I think in super straight people there`s something instinctively repellant in partnering up with someone of the same gender. I`m not sure if it`s the same way with people who just know they`re gay, but perhaps it is so. Can we have a gay person in on this conversation? I`m not sure if I would ever be able to love another woman in that way, so perhaps there is a genetic factor. It also has to do with personality, and some people are just experimenters. What`s wrong with that?

@Scuziod: I never said "5 years old" and in fact I say the opposite.
When this guy says "Kid is born gay." it is HE who`s saying a CHILD has a sexual orientation.
Think well on that! What reason would Mother Nature POSSIBLY have for giving children sexual orientations? None.

Now, what do gay pedophiles say? The child wants it! Because he`s BORN GAY! Of course. I`m sure hetero pedos would jump on the bandwagon to sexualize the girls too!

lots of people, like you, feel fine discriminating against gays because they say it is a choice.
@HolyGod: How open minded of you! What I believe about homosexuality does nothing to cause "discrimination" against them, thanks for asking! Troll.

You believe that homosexuals shouldn`t have the exact same rights (marriage) as heterosexuals. How is that not discrimination?

Plus I`ve met gay guys that just look gay, and not clothes or hair, I mean bone structure. Their voices are gay. Their movements are gay.
    Like Clay Aiken!

But seriously, on that topic, there was this guy in my high school who was so feminine I actually thought he was a cute (if flat-chested) girl at first. Took me about two weeks to realize something was off, then I caught a glimpse of him coming out of the guys room and I was like "OH SH*T, REALLY?!"

Since then, I have developed quite a talent for picking out traps, and from there I branched into detecting jailbait. I`m not letting that happen again.

Are you seriously suggesting that the opinions of gay pedophiles is what you think the opinions of all gay men are? Then you turn around and use a metaphor that only shows how stupid that generalization you just said was?
I used to like you 5cats, I thought you were weird but I didn`t realize anybody could be as insane as to contradict themselves with such a massive level of stupidity. I`m amazed, really.

I`ve known some men for which it was a choice and they admitted to it. Their reason was for their inability to hook up with women. Yes genetics play a role, but in my experience, so does choice. But, equal rights for all. Who cares what gays do!

Its probably more of a choice when you are bi or ambivilent. The people who think its a choice, obviously aren`t quite as repelled by the other side of the fence as those of us who have always known which team we bat for.

If gay is your way then thats ok
lol...just had to say that. Anyways I`m a Christian and Le Bible said men shouldn`t sleep with men but my bro is gay and well, he had a girlfriend before we started noticing that he wasn`t dating or anything. Then he moved away and switched his Fbook from straight to Gay. Point: I`m really not sure about Genetics. Might just be a way for gays and others to end a fight, but honestly I think saying it`s genetics is a weaker solution. Saying you chose it is passionate and strong, genetic just sounds like "oh i can`t help it..."

Meh...That`s all I`ve got on this subject. I`ve got gay friends and a gay brother as I said before and I don`t give them poo for it, in fact I ask who`s catching and receiving. It`s gross to me but I try to relate lol.

@SarahofBorg: I`m not trying to say that all gays want pedo sex, I know for a fact that 99% of them are revolted by it! Just like 99% of heteros & etc.
I AM wondering why on earth the gay community continues to push an agenda that`s likely counter-productive.

    @toddbtmttodd wonders that too! lolz!

@8BitHero: It`s not much of a choice if God orders you! srsly, some folks believe that God (or Allah) Himself tells them what to do.

I don`t get it. It`s absurd that anyone actually believes this is a choice. I never chose to like women, I just always had. It`s exactly the same for somebody who is homosexual. They find that they like people of the same sex. They don`t decide to any more than you decide not to. If you think being gay is a choice you may have some soul searching to do - if you think it is possible to choose to like people of the same sex then you lack the fundamental quality that makes you heterosexual - the attraction to the opposite sex and repulsion at the idea of having sex with someone of the same sex. In other words, it`s only a choice if you`re already gay and you`re choosing to come out. If it seems like you have to pick one or the other, you`re already gay.

Saying IT`S GENETICS! Just makes you sound borderline retarded. "Oh, homosexuality is heriditary!" drat off. It`s all about the way you developed and your own individual thoughts and wants. Being straight is a choice.

If you had a choice who you found attractive then surely you could just date the person who was most convenient, maybe the girl who lives next door, or the richest guy you know? But the brain doesn`t work that way, your brain will actually select a mate based on some stupid mysterious set of characteristics.
Can anyone here say they`ve never felt attraction to someone entirely inappropriate? Was it a choice?

Faustusflux, time for you to go read the science on the subject. Yes, there really is science available on this subject.
