Blogging is graffiti with punctuation. I saw that in the movie,`Contagion`.

Well since the US signed the Berne Convention, blogs do count as copyrighted.

This would be the way to handle it:
I am terrrbly sorrry. We will print the credit in the new issue. If you forgive us this misunderstanding, we will appreciate your contribution infuture.
Can`t pay too much you know we are small time publication but we loved your work.
Nope then you gotta pay.

Excellent. How much has this editor earned from stealing other people`s work during the course of his lifetime? He recognised when he had been shown wrong and will probably carry on exactly as before.

Good grief. Were they filming that from inside of a hamster ball? Whatever was covering the lens caused all sorts of weird distortions.

That aside, good video. Hopefully it will discourage others from similar plagiarism.

Sometimes an apology goes a long way. The papers editor should have offered one with a promise of a notation in the next addition and perhaps bought them lunch. $500 is a nice apology but, he could have saved it. As for the video being published on-line the notation on the check showed no empathy for the misdeed.

I like how the old man is about to try and intimidate the blogger, but then the lady walks by "is that what the camera`s for?" and he`s just like "oh.."

There`s nothing that annoys me more than uptight grandmas.

Sad piano music at the end, lol

Lordjim - "Mistake? I doubt it; he tried to rip off someone else`s work, was confronted and paid up with ill-grace."

Maybe, but that still should have been the end of it. Publicly humiliating the man by posting this video was just petty.

How is the blogger a douche? I don`t think anyone should get away with plagiarism. The old man new that the article was stolen!
I honestly think that some older people think anyone younger than them is just an idiot kid, and therefore try to get away with exploiting them.

Hahaha, pay the man.
@LillianDulci "Be quite now, you`ll understand when you get older." Gerry must be right he`s a few months older than I.

I think the headline should have read -

DOUCHEBAG BLOGGER DUANE LESTER CRIES FOR MONEY, STILL SCREWS OLD MAN...

Well done blogger. Old man goes; "Well I`m 40 years older than you...." and stumbles the rest of the sentence making all old people sound like doddering fools. On the bright side, he knew he was wrong and ultimately did the right thing.

I think the posing of the video is just to say "hey, if someone violates your copyrights, take action!" than to say "herpaderp this guy`s an idiot."

Though wouldn`t it be funny if some wiretap laws were violated and the editor got his $500 back?

Orchideous, I believe that that was just the memo line. It`s not required to write in that line but used to remind as to why the check was written.

Posting the video online after they consented to pay you for their mistake - douche baggery at its finest.[/quote]
Exactly. I disregard the `bro` in your username and prostrate myself before your concise and accurate post.

That editor knew he didn`t have a leg to stand on and did the right thing by paying up on the spot. He should have known better than to rip off someone`s work. I know I am right because I am many years older than LillianDulci.

It`s a variation of an appeal to authority logical fallacy, and I hate it too. Authority from age is not axiomatic, as this editor claims it to be.
