    Cheddar, bacon, and mushroom noodles.

New words aren`t simply created in Chinese. They will often take existing words and use them for their phonetic rendering. If using a computer-based translator, though, it will frequently not be able to recognize these neologisms resulting in our mirth.

LordJim thinks he has it all figured out, until he orders the cheese bacon mushrooms and they hit him in the face with a car.

26 yen? Either the price must be half cut off or a car actually did rum over it.

    That`s about 20p or 23c....

How do you even get to those words?

Automated translation. It`s hard enough when translating between broadly similar languages, but when translating between fundamentally different languages the results are likely to be rubbish.

I for one couldn`t imagine living in a country where you could only have Chinese food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

车打 (che-da) is the Chinese word for Cheddar. But the words separately are 车 (car) and 打 (hit). They got cheese, bacon and mushroom right though. 面 (mian) means "noodles," and it often gets mistranslated because 面对 (mian-dui) means "face," and is often (in context) just shortened down to 面.
