747 Lifting In Place In Extreme Wind Conditions

Submitted by: Monosandalos 4 years ago Weird

The plane was awaiting scrapping & engines were removed. The elevators on the rear stabilizers may be to blame as well.

IT never flips people. Just watch it for 30 seconds, the other 2 minutes is kind of a waste. Same thing over and over.

That`s not lifting; that`s rotating. Planes are balanced with very little weight on the nose gear compared to the main gear. If the elevator is in the up position, this can happen with a moderate wind, and if the wind`s coming in at an angle, the force on the vertical stabilizer can easily turn the plane.

thats why we chain the nosegear down on our planes

This happened at the Mojave Airport. I was talking with somebody about this and they said the plane actually turned. That`s an exaggeration but this is no hoax.

An aircraft like that with no engines is unstable - i.e. wants to fall back over its own tail as lift increases. v=OlDmMwI9cikThis is what it looks like

Well, that`s what they`re designed to do...

The plane was saying, "Look at me! I`m still good! There`s no reason to go through with this!"

Something tells me this is a hoax. I would assume that there`s a crane or something on the tail (blocked by the other plane) pushing down. Perhaps this is a job for Mythbusters?
