Seriously though, the major flaw in his argument is that people are outraged by the Trayvon Martin shooting because Zimmerman wasn`t arrested. The racial aspect is sad, but that probably wouldn`t have happened if the local officials had handled the case properly in the first place, and if the law weren`t so flawed. The black on black crime he mentions is unlikely to be a similar situation, because if the perpetrators of those crimes were found, they`re likely to have been punished by the law.

I understand his point, but it`s not necessarily 100% accurate.

This man`s point is not one for IAB to evaluate. If you don`t get that, then you truly are ignorant of and insensitive to race issues. In other words, people who claim to be "color-blind" are often the most insensitive buffoons of them all.

FoolsPrussia-"are outraged by the Trayvon Martin shooting because Zimmerman wasn`t arrested"

    Correction, because a `White-Hispanic` wasn`t arrested.

If Trevon had been shot by a black man, not only would the Black Movement not have been upset if they never arrested the killer, they`d actively be helping him avoid arrest.

I can name quite a few local murders where there was no arrest, and the killers are known to be black, and there seems to be no outcry, no rallies and not one word from Al Sharpton.

And it all would have been blamed on The White Man.

Now, the gentleman who made this video I`d love to sit down with a beer and a cigar and solve the world`s problems.

Yeah, I`m thinking the real difference between the cases he`s comparing Trayvon Martin with and Trayvon Martin, is that it didn`t take publicly embarrassing police and prosecutors to make them get off their arses and belatedly do their jobs in those cases.

MeGrendel: I`m not arguing that certain elements within the black community, as well as many members of the media, have been irresponsibly been stoking the racism fears. I`m just as upset about that as all the conservative posters here. I haven`t seen a sliver of real evidence that Zimmerman is a racist.

My point is just that we wouldn`t have gotten to that place if the authorities had done things correctly to start with. Remember, this issue was ignored outside of Florida for a while. It took a long time for things to get out of hand.

Available evidence points to the opposite of this happening.

According to the evidence in hand, the 911 operator told him to not follow, and he said "ok. they always get away!" and turned back.

Trayvon, at that moment, became the aggressor.

    We`ve been over this.

@Rick_S: Listen to Zimmerman`s 911 call: there`s a 90+ second span where he`s NOT chasing Martin at all! Yet the fight/shooting occures a few yards away from the initial "chase" OK?
What does that mean? It means that Martin had PLENTY of time to walk (not run) to the house, Zimmerman was NOT persuing him!
    Yet... Martin didn`t.

I`ve offered an extensive article on this as an IAB post, I hope it gets put up (hint! hint!) before @madest deletes it...

@Fools, that`s HOW the system is SUPPOSED to work! IF there`s little or no chance of conviction, why press charges?
The article you link to even says the politicians forced the charges, not the `justice system` ok?

Gerry, don`t even go there. Whilst I worked in the police service, I worked in a joint team with the very same Dumfries and Galloway officers that investigated the Lockerbie bombing alongside the FBI. Trust me, that case was so shoddily put together with FBI-gathered evidence that it wasn`t going to bear any reasonable scrutiny at his retrial. Releasing him was exactly the right thing to do, even if the man hadn`t been suffering from a terminal illness, which he was. Don`t believe everything you see on the news, your Government shoves down your throat, or your FBI director Robert Mueller makes public announcements on. My own theory is that it was the Iranians that bombed your plane in revenge for USS Vincennes shooting down Flight 655; it certainly wasn`t Libya.

@MacGuffin...What is good about the American legal/justice system?...What are the drawbacks of the legal/justice system in the U.K.?

I`m not here to defend the US justice system. I think the fact that you have more people per capita in prison than any other nation on Earth - with every democracy, dictatorship, anarchist state or theocracy included - speaks for itself. You have 5% of the world`s population, and 25% of its prisoners, not even including those on probation or community punishments. Either you`re the most criminally-inclined nation in history, or your justice system needs reform; I`ll leave you to conclude which.

As for the UK, as I`ve said before, I know it`s not perfect, but honestly, we simply don`t have police officers committing murder and getting away with it for seven years owing to the fact that the investigating officer was also corrupt as happened with the Danziger Bridge shootings during Hurricane Katrina.

Would that be the oil deal and that`s now completely invalid, because the UK and France led a surgical operation to remove Gaddafi from power less than three years later and the UK has no such deal with the new regime?

MacGuffin-"Would that be the $900M oil deal and that`s now completely invalid"

Yes, that one. The fact that it fell through in no way absolves the U.K. government nor BP from the pressure they applied to have Abdelbaset al-Megrahi released for `compassionate` reasons.

This is no secret, a Libyan foreign minister admited it, as did Justice Secretary Jack Straw.

    Plus, the deal WAS signed.

Not to mention that Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, someone who had `weeks, if not days` to live in 2009, is still in remarkable health.

It didn`t "fall through". It ceased to be because of the affirmative action taken by the UK, France and others to remove Gaddafi. That`s a very different thing. Why would we remove Gaddafi so soon after releasing Megrahi, if the UK was so very keen on courting him to get at Libya`s oil, as you allege?

As to who actually did the bombing, I guess we`ll never know for sure, but as I`ve said below I believe the Iranians did it in retaliation for the US shooting down a civilian Iranian airliner only six months before Lockerbie. It fits the facts. Also, did you know that Will Rogers III (the captain of the USS Vincennes at the time of the shoot-down), had his family`s personal vehicle bombed in March 1989? They`ve still never found out who did that or why.

@MacGuffin- Nice way to dodge an honest question- you should run for some sort of political office.
While you declared you are not here to defend the U.S. Justice system, you manage to bring up negative points- as if you believe the U.S. justice system HAS no positive points- a sure sign of bias.
You also graciously, albeit vaguely admit that the U.K. justice system is not perfect- golly, no bias there.
Let`s be clear, you enjoy bashing America, while ignoring the drawbacks of your system.

@MacGuffin- Nice way to dodge an honest question

Let me see if I`ve got this right. You make an unfounded, leading statement like "What is good about the American legal/justice system" (which pre-supposes that there *is* something good about that system), even though I`ve made clear I don`t consider that statement to be true. You might as well as Gerry what is good about the belief that homosexuality is wrong. So anyway, instead of arguing what you choose to believe for you, I instead provide you with some statistics and a striking case of multiple murder by US police officers and a subsequent cover-up by other police officers to back up my contention that the US justice system is *not* good. And somehow, in your twisted version of reality, that`s me "dodging a question"?

Meanwhile – and this is the bit of your self-deluding logic I really like - you actually *do* completely dodge my non-leading question back to you ("what do you think of the comparative merits of the UK and the US justice systems" – it`s non-leading because it doesn`t pre-suppose a position on that question that I`m asking you to provide evidence for). I`d say you failing to answer that question makes you the coward rather than me, wouldn`t you?

I`m not here to make arguments for the warped version of reality you prefer to believe. But, whilst you choose to believe in things like "the American justice system is good", when so much evidence has been presented to you that statement is not true, you should certainly *vote* for office; because politicians with unsupportable policies to sell just love people like you that can believe in a thing and be content never to know why you believe in it in the face of available evidence.

so now you`re saying the Scottish government knowingly imprisoned the wrong man. And that is your defense of picking on the US justics system.
What`s the Scottish government got to do with it? It was the Scottish police and prosecution services, acting on FBI-supplied `evidence`, that secured a conviction in the Megrahi case. That conviction was looking increasingly likely to be thrown out on appeal because that evidence was shown to have holes in it a mile wide, so the Scottish government played their only part in proceedings by exercising their power to release him before he was freed on appeal.

Well, I will bow to your assessmant of the situation as you know all about these things. cough{and everything else}cough

Bullsh\t! This was straight up race card baiting hysteria from the very start. If Martin had been any other color but black there would`ve been little or no outrage or protest.

A good example, This week a black nurse ran over and killed a white woman to get her newborn baby `to adopt`. Do you see the white husband throwing out charges of racism? Do you see him and his family holding up pictures of his wife asking for `justice`? No, you don`t.

It took outrage and subsequent media coverage to get the states atty general to lock up the murderer.

No, it took race baiters like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the Black Panthers to pressure Obama to send the FBI and DOJ to look at the case.

I believe I`ve already answered your original `question`. Twice. I note with interest that you`ve still not provided any answer to the question I asked you in return.

As for the US system being all bad? That`s a different question (and it is at least a question this time, and not a statement disguised as one). If I had to find some good in what I consider to be a bad overall system, I`d say your system of degrees of murder is much better than our system where there`s only one type of murder, and that type attracts a mandatory life sentence.

There was a woman, Frances Inglis, that was convicted here in the UK of murder, when she deliberately injected her brain-dead son with an overdose of Heroin to kill him, to end his suffering. It wasn`t manslaughter, because it was deliberate, and so she was convicted of murder and given a life sentence. In a degree-of-liability system the difference between her crime and a that of a cold-blooded killer that sets out to end someone`s life in a pre-meditated way for entirely selfish reasons could have been better recognised.

You said "so now you`re saying the Scottish government knowingly imprisoned the wrong man", and I pointed out to you that the Scottish Government played no part in his conviction, they only got involved at the point of deciding whether he should be released. What part of that simple concept are you having difficulty understanding?

I realise that, coming as you do from a society where there`s a high degree of political interference in your justice system, the concept of a separation of police, courts and politics will come as a shock to you. But I would have thought that even you would be capable of understanding the above.

As for being a "puppet" of the US, I think Scotland proved that it`s not by releasing Megrahi, despite all the pouting and toy throwing your government and the FBI did about it.

I`ll have been a mod for 2 years this coming Sunday, much to the chagrin of CJ and AJ. Two years is enough. I`ll resign on Sunday and someone else can mod. I won`t put a good word in for either of you.

vv The ONLY intelligent post you`ve made in... two years.

So long f-tard! Don`t let the door hit your arse on the way out, eh?

And keep your shirt un-tucked, don`t want to get arrested for murder now, for crying out loud!

What the heck, 5Cats? Aren`t you laying it on a little thick?

This is, first and foremost, an entertainment website. Madest *volunteered* his time for two years to help make this place function. Personally, I`m sorry to see *any* mod resign and even more sorry to see posts that make it look like he`s being shown the bum`s rush.

I have no knowledge of what`s transpired between you two, but couldn`t you have worked it out?

@ MacGuffin.... so let`s get this straight.
The Scottish Government, according to you, played no part in the conviction of someone in Scotland. Really?

Well I have certainly been schooled by an expert now haven`t I.

@Squirrelz: NOPE! He`s been an f-tard from day 1. I hoped @FancyLad knew what he was doing by making him a Mod, but apparently not.

@madest has done ZERO to suggest he`s a human being. He`s ignorant, rude and downright vile.

Half of what I`d like to say to him I`m far too polite to actually articulate.

Like @StarSkimmer before him, I hope he never shows his (virtual) face here again. Honestly.

Heck, I have LOTS of folks who don`t like me, but each and every one of them have posts which make me say "Hey! he/she isn`t so bad afterall". NOT @madest. The few times he`s made a lick of sense are FAR outweighed by his utter disregard for all things decent.
    srsly.

I`ve tried many times to bury the hatchet with him, and humble myself for the good of the site. The response from him?

    FU!

So yeah. Have a good one. Relinquish the banhammer! Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of THOR!

Ooooh, I`m not liked by a Canadian, republican, cat lover. Ouch my feelings are hurt. A comedian once said: You know what I hate about Canadians? Half of them speak french and the other half let them. That mirrors my sentiments exactly.

Kinda late in responding to this but MeGrendel clearly doesn`t know the difference between cussing every once in a while and cussing (or using shock language or w/e) every other word. One is perfectly fine and idc if people do it, the other is obnoxious so I choose not to listen to it when I have the choice. Like with youtube videos ;) And once again thanks Squrlz :P (also I kinda forgot I even posted here <_<)

Though I see now that this turned into a madest hate thread. But then again, it tends to trun into a madest hate thread every time madest says anything o.o

@madest: you deleted ALL my suggestions!?! You embarrass yourself. Really. The sooner you GO the better IAB becomes.

I could not care less about what you think of ANYTHING even if I tried!
    Bye-bye!
