Wait, does this guy want to give ME 273 bucks for my seed? I`m pretty sure my seed isn`t worth that much, but hey, I`ll take it.

Nothing new here. Back in the middle ages you could buy your way into heaven by purchasing forgiveness from the Pope. It`s one of the things that pissed Luther off and motivated him to start the Lutheran church.

The money is a sacrifice you make to impress god with your sincerity. If you prove yourself sincere in the eyes of god, it may cause him to pity you and therefore intercede in your life. A sacrifice has to be big enough to really hurt or it`s merely a bribe. Put into perspective, it is an embarrassingly archaic and primitive attempt at using scientific technology to control the objective world.

It`s funny to see people say "This is Christian" or "That isn`t Christian". Their own faith has changed countless times over the last two thousand years it is pathetic. Nothing more Christian, as far as I have seen through history, than exploiting the ignorant for money.

    Not Christian.
Who are you to judge? You can`t make that call. There is no standard for being christian. Either everyone and everything that calls themselves is, or no one and nothing is.

"If only there were some way to arrest these fakes who pass themselves off as "Christians"..."

That is part of what makes it profitable, no way to falsify ANY of it. Reasonable people KNOW it`s fraud but it cannot be proven. Faith is perfect for the hucksters.

I was in Florida recently and there was a channel that was exactly like this, calling it `seed` money and `sow your seed` of $1000.00. They claimed if you gave them money it would keep their sinful family members out of hell. It was disgusting.

This practice has been around since the crusades. monks would pray on behalf of the soldiers killing supposedly in the name of God. This is perversion of Christianity. A.K.A. a cult. (Not to be confused with occult)

Religion legitimizes and protects from criticism exactly the kind of magical thinking that is necessary to maintain the belief that a ritual sacrifice (of money, or of your firstborn son) proves devotion to the creator of the universe and has the power to cause the creator to act on your behalf in the real world.

jkfld...when was the last time you were in a Catholic church? Catholicism hasn`t taught this in a long, long time. In fact, they recently renamed "Confession" to "Reconciliation", and explain it that, while God still loves everyone, you do need to apologize for your misdeeds. Not for eternal salvation, because Catholicism has taught that everyone receives eternal salvation, unless they`re Satan worshippers, but because it`s the right thing to do...like a child apologizing to a parent for stealing cookies.

If there is anything organized religions hate, it`s money.

That`s why they demand ten percent of yours, so you can be 90 percent happier! Or something. Just GIVE GOD THE MONEY DAMMIT.

This practice has been around since the crusades. monks would pray on behalf of the soldiers killing supposedly in the name of God. This is perversion of Christianity. A.K.A. a cult.

It`s been around for longer than that. If it`s a perversion of Christianity, then Christianity has always been perverted. Also, it`s too common to be a cult. A religion is just a cult with enough power, which comes from money and followers - since this has enough money and followers, it can`t be a cult.

Selling religious favours did become particularly commonplace in Europe in the late medieval period, but it didn`t start then and it didn`t start because of the crusades. It was built in pretty much from the start - if clerics and churches have more religious weight, it makes sense to pay them to add their weight to make your afterlife better.

This is why you should seek God on your own. All you need to find God is in the scriptures. It just comes down to making the choice to learn more of God and studying the scriptures.
