Yeah, it might be cute at first glance, but it"s still your dog--give him a little dignity.

Why does a dog need dignity when he can get attention?

That`s all dogs want, after all.

Dogs will look you in the eyes as they lick their own genitals. Dignity is a human invention.

That`s a fine job of dissecting one sentence of my post. While you`re correct that dog`s coats often provide insulation to heat, there are things called conditional circumstances that must be accounted for. The vet trimmed him, we applied a medicated cream daily and our dog was as happy and healthy as could be expected.

I understand that raising a handful of dogs in your lifetime and reading a book or two on the subject has made you feel like an expert on the subject, but since I doubt you are a veterinarian, I`ll trust my vet with the actual experience of handling 1000`s of animals in his career over your experience of being an enthusiast.

While I`m no expert, I don`t pretend to be, like you do.

Oh, and by the way, people who aren`t white, Christian and watch Fox News have no soul and should be captured on site. Why captured and not shot? Because they need to be tortured for as long as they can survive to satisfy Jesus.

Shave pussies, not doggies!

We have an inside dog who only goes out when it`s semi-shady, and during the summer she gets way too hot (gets to like 110), so we shave her down almost to the skin, otherwise she`d get dehydrated.

If that dog was too hot, I see no reason that giving it a shave with a sense of humor is a bad thing.

Also Rawrg, your dog most likely suffered from "hot spots" as opposed to an actual heat rash.

Now if your VET diagnosed "heat rash" (not likely, and especially not likely for the reasons you list... sorry) WHY would he or she leave it up to YOU to trim the dog when THEY`RE better qualified, and you already were paying for the visit... they would have done it on the spot.

Therefore, the only possible conclusions are:

A. Your vet is an incompetent troglodyte. (if that is what happened, change vets... NOW.)

B. You somehow decided yourself that your dog had "heat rash" (seriously... NOT LIKELY), and took it upon yourself to trim your dog... which obviously you shouldn`t be doing because you`re obviously not qualified.

C. You made it all up, which, judging from your wonderfully racist comments on other threads, would be in character.

@ Rawrg:

1. You do not have to shave a dog completely down to it`s skin in order for it to be sunburned badly enough to become a health issue. I`ve raised and bred dogs of varying breeds and mutts my entire life... and have seen it happen.

2. Breeds with long coats and/or undercoats, have that type of coat for a reason. It insulates from the heat during the summer, and from the cold during the winter. When you shave a dog that normally has a long coat, or an undercoat, you disrupt the dog`s natural ability to regulate its body temperature.

You know nothing.

"Not funny at all. This Shiba Inu`s person is a complete assh*le. His or her dog is now susceptible to a sunburn severe enough to kill him.

Nice move you jerk, whoever you are."

Umm, he just trimmed the hair down low, he didn`t shave the dog completely. I had to shave my dog`s hair during a summer where he got severe heat rash from having too much hair.

I`m sure the dog owner finished the job later, but thought it would be funny to give him some suspenders for awhile.

People need to stop being oversensitive about animals. I can assure you that the dog does not care.

@iRockYeah & Karat, if I could have my hair grow out of that stupid haircut in around 3-days, like any dog would, I would have tried tons of stupid haircuts like that one by now.

No need to beat the owner, that dog is probably enjoying the attention (and probably a cold breeze on its torso)
