Fair enough; I can`t argue with that.

There are as many colours in a rainbow as anyone wants to decide there are, at least up to about 400,000,000,000,000 (the visible light spectrum is about 4x10^14 Hz wide).

Humans often put things into discrete groups when in reality they are a spectrum. Including, but not limited to, the colours in a rainbow.

@jbwhite: Yes. The other option is to wallow in their own self pity. Yeah, that sounds better.

What a stupid argument. It implies superiority.

Hey, I don`t have a problem punching babies, why should you?

It`s a complete rainbow, coolthing97. There are only six colors in the rainbow. Newton had real OCD and had an obsession with the number seven, so he "found" indigo in between blue and violet.

American spelling reflects our philosophy of government,
if you do something wrong often enough it becomes right.

So colour is now correctly spelled color
Humour is humor
Theatre is theater
and Enterprise is with an "s" not "z"

The correct way to say `z` is "zee" not "zed"
and there are only 4 syllables in `aluminium` not 5, which is now spelled `aluminum`.

My wasband and I were watching a ballgame when a guy sat down next to us wearing a pink Mariners baseball cap. I was thinking, This guy is brave. But then his wife said, "Why did you buy a pink hat?" He said, "Oh man, it`s pink". He was really frustrated and it was really funny.

Get out your sequined note books. Gay Education is now is session.

The "Gay" flag is not the rainbow. It`s the greek letter Lamda on a white field. [see below] The rainbow flag was intended to the EQUALITY and represent all colors together. But in the 70s no other groups wanted to be seen with `those queer folk` and let`se face it, the colors are FABULOUS, so by popular use, It`s a defacto gay flag.

Heee heee heee @Cajun...
Actually 5Cats, the original design of the pride flag (by Gilbert Baker) had pink and turquoise in it as well..
I too came across that while looking for other flags @DFWBrysco, it`s interesting!
I just mean that `real` light doesn`t have `pink` in it. Or black, or white eh?

Oh, and mykunter? Do a bit of research... there are 17 different organizations globally that use the rainbow (and various aspects) for their organizations flag, thereby not making us the "owners" of the rainbow - we "queers" are just so fabulous everyone associates it with us.

Jealous, much?

Actually 5Cats, the original design of the pride flag (by Gilbert Baker) had pink and turquoise in it as well.. however, due to the inavailability of these colors in the materials the flags were being produced for (the 1979 SF Gay Pride Parade) they were taken out, leaving us with the current six...

So pink did exist... as least in theory...

Hell yeah I got a problem with it! Why do the queers get to own the rainbow?

A couple of years ago a co-worker got an ice cream sandwich out of the vending machine and out came a rainbow popsicle with it. It was a big one! I said "Yeah, OK I`ll eat it." All the guys were laughing and making fun of me... and I`m like " I know, right? How gay is this?" I can`t eat a big, fruity, rainbow popsicle without feeling shame.
