Well at least if she had been hit, the ambulance was right there!

Maybe she was doing it in spite. Some (too many) drivers will just keep going even though there are pedestrians waiting to cross and they should stop. She is still being complete reckless with her life and potentially the life of others nonetheless.

I hope they didn`t have a wedding cake in the back of that van.

People seem to think crosswalks have force fields or something. Even if I`m in the wrong, lady, you`re still DEAD, so have a little awareness huh?

She had the right of way, but still a freaking moron. She`s lucky the driver was driving defensively.

@broizfam

"the stupid pedestrian obviously had no inclination whatsoever to look before crossing"

Or look WHILE crossing too!

Please tell me you know that you need to keep looking while you`re crossing, and not just before you step onto the road.

Her mistake was not looking to see what was coming whilst she was walking across. What on earth must she have been thinking.

Wouldn`t make a nice epitaph?

On one hand the driver was wrong...should have been watching more carefully and at least a bit suspicious about the other vehicle slowing to a stop for no apparent reason. On the other hand, the stupid pedestrian obviously had no inclination whatsoever to look before crossing. Hope she doesn`t teach her kids to be such idiots.

Don`t wave lady, don`t even offer the slightest "I am an idiot for not looking and thank you so much for not running my dumb ass over". Just walk away.

Lucky for her, that was an ambulance that almost hit her. So if the driver hadn`t avoided the accident, they would have been able to care for her injuries.

If we were to slow down because an adjacent car comes to a stop for no visible reason, my city would come to a halt. The pedestrian was an idiot to assume that the road was clear.

While my immediate reaction was that she was a moron, if you look at the end the signs show that it`s a pedestrian crossing. Theoretically she had right of way but it`s still sensible to check oncoming traffic, especially when there aren`t any zebra strips on the road. I think the truck blocked the view of both of them which didn`t help either.

Keep in mind that a cautious driver will always be aware of adjacent cars coming to a stop for no visible reason, and slow right down until they know WHY they stopped. That`s a basic driving skill.

She`s damn stupid. She didn`t even consider that when there`s two lanes of traffic you NEED to be sure that ALL the lanes are stopped. I`ve almost hit people myself this way many times. I`ll be driving along and the car in my right lane has stopped but I have no reason to stop myself, and suddenly some idiot just jumps out in front of that car like I`m not even there.
It`s not just pedestrians, idiot drivers trying to cross traffic do this too.

"But as a driver you should never assume that you can plough through a junction. You have no idea if an emergency vehicle is about to turn in or similar. You should always ease off as you approach one."

The question now is: An the driver of an emergency vehicle, would you have to look out for other emergency vehicles? And who gets to go first? Bigger car, greater speed, or state of the patient?

It wouldn`t be so bad if she didn`t act like nearly getting her ass flattened by a truck was no big deal.

Some serious stupid going on there.

nah the ped was totally at fault here. she should not have corssed if she could not tell the road was clear. SHE WAS LOOKING the WRONG WAY when she started to cross.

she is lucky however was driving that ambulance was a damn good driver...and that it was an ambulance just in case.

"That dumbass panel truck driver stopping to let the pedestrian cross was most at fault. "

He was slowing to turn and she just went for it! He wouldn`t have stopped all the way if she didn`t waltz right in front of him.

How DON`T you look before you cross the street.. that has been pounded into your head since birth, practically. It`s not even like EAT YOUR VEGGIES or some other stupid mom stuff, it`s something you just need to do! It`s practically second nature!

If it`s a four lane road do not stop to let a pedestrian cross, you are simply inviting them into a blind spot.

I don`t know what country this is, but those blue pedestrian crossing signs might actually mean that drivers have to hold back.

I`m sure not all the skidmarks were on the pavement after that.

We had a crosswalk in the middle of the block on a major 4-lane thoroughfare at my college, and this exact same thing happened about twice a semester with at least one fatality. It was ALWAYS girls who never looked to see if anybody coming in the left lane.

Considering where that comes from, I am not surprised. She just walks out and doesn`t even look. Stupid bit$h. She should have been hit by the ambulance. Surprised she was not on a cell phone.
