Does anyone know where this is? It"s got to be America from the style of houses, but I need to know...

You want to live in a sterile, soulless, mockery of human habitation?

"How the hell do you get off and on that thing?"

Um, I would use the road on the right hand side, but feel free to swim if you like ;)

why would you want to... Looks like a pretty terrible place to live in my opinion. I`d rather be surrounded by woodland, fields and hills than that....

Good luck getting home after a night out. Could be pain in the ass to navigate while blissfully drunk. OTOH, if you can afford to live there, you most probably afford a taxi or private driver.

Is that one of the artificial island chains in Dubai? I`d like to live there if it wasn`t surrounded by such terrible countries.

Actually, to the left is a straight shot out to the ocean. With 2 tides a day, it gets changed pretty regularly.

Meh, I would rather live here, at the end of the peninsula. The water goes out to the Atlantic.

Actually, I live very close. I`m near the bridge in the top right corner... in a condo :-(

Kind of modeled after the tales of Atlantis, which was supposed to be a circular city with a series of moats in between. Neat.

BTW, it`s called Harborwalk and it`s in Hitchcock, Texas near Galveston. Super cool.

One big tidal surge and all those houses will be gone! Yeah, great idea.

Thanks for the map-link @Mike1973! I see that nearby "Tiki Island" has a similar design, and it`s full!

I wouldn`t wanna live in Galveston, too hurricane prone. I bet those properties are in danger of storm surge too :/

I bet they have dreadful problems with rats. You get that when you build houses too close to water.

Apparently not Dubai, but Galveston, Tex., according to the Website of aerial photographer Alex MacLean.
His comment: "Harborwalk is a planned waterfront community built on wetlands on the western coast of Galveston Bay. In the coming century this land will be some of the most vulnerable on the Texas coast to sea-level rise, yet developers continue to construct low-lying homes to cash in on waterfront property values."

Is not, car accident. Did you look up any of the images of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai? It`s shaped like a palm.

i don`t even have to research to know where that is... and those empty lots you see there will probably STAY empty... UAE utopia is way too expensive and who the hell wants to live under muslim laws that govern WORSE than Nazi Germany laws of the 40`s.

You have to drive in circles for 45 minutes to get home. God forbid you have a boat at those docks and have to travel to the outside of the maze.

why in the world would you want to live on that ugly fake island in an over priced house that is pushed up against others???

that place is downright ugly.

My parents live in a neighborhood like this. It is nice for the people on the outside, but those deeper into the canals have a long slow boat ride to their houses, and there isn`t much privacy (you can see clearly into the houses across the canal from you).

I wouldn`t assume this is the USA. That Palmtree Island in Dubai is properties like this as well.
