It`s giving directions, not instructions. This way to thin and that way to fat; not skinny ppl take the stairs, fat ppl take the escalator.

If you buy your food by the bucket, it`s a lifestyle choice.

Shouldn`t this be the other way around? The reward would be getting to take the escalator, not the stairs. The FAT symbol should be pointing to the STAIRS!

@2l84me aww 9 whole hours? try a 14/16 hour day, or in some peoples cases, 36 hours on the go.

We`ve had a lot of conversations about the definition of `lifestyle` on these boards. To be obese is absolutely a lifestyle...I`ll do you one better, it`s a lifestyle choice.

@Lowmaxxx: there are people out there who need to use the escalator for medical reasons. You, sir, are a good example.

I would`nt take either because I`ve had a stroke and useing the stairs would`nt be something I could do easily and the escalator would be to unsafe for me because I`m to unsteady on my feet and walking stick as I have problems useing one.

Another advantage of the steps. You probably won`t be stuck with an extra large lard arse in your line of sight.

I don`t get it...people in shape are rewarded with more exercise?

Depends on which direction you`re going.

How about this: If you`re fat, you take the stairs because that`s your feeble way of trying to get in shape. People who are ACTUALLY FIT will be fine taking the escalator because they know they are going to be getting ACTUAL exercise (Because they stay fit.)

If your way of staying in shape is "taking the stairs instead of the escalator" every once in a while, you are fat.
How is this a reward? Skinny guy walks up the stairs, expends more effort. Fat guy is sent to escalator. Does the poster have visual dyslexia?
No, they have understanding.

Walking up the stairs is a reward (in a sense) in two ways:

i) It shows that you can, which gains you some status. Ever seen any posts on here laughing at normal-sized people walking normally?

ii) It provides you with free cardio-vascular exercise and muscle-building exercise, which will improve your quality of life. How much more of a reward can there be? A longer, better life is the best reward there is.

Having said that, I often use escalators because one of my knees is damaged and walking up stairs hurts quite a lot on bad days.

Yeah, the `in shape` people don`t get to ride the escalators? Should be reversed.

It SHOULD be reversed, but the people who fit those descriptions will do exactly what it shows.

So the people who are in shape have to take the stairs? That seems off.
