Put down your egos, gentlemen. You`re ALL right. The water is real AND the photo is shopped - (Only the draft of the boat has been removed)

There IS still water like this all over the world, so go lobby someone to stop putting poopies and chemicals in it.

...Good luck with that. I`m going for a surf.

@blomi "Shopped. You can see along the bottom of the hull where it has been cut out rather hurridly and moved."

I`m guessing you`ve never seen a boat in water before? Water bends light. Boats float, they don`t sit to deep in the water either.

clear doesn`t mean unpolluted.. don`t be a retard there is water like this all over the world and this has nothing to do with pollution and everything to do with the organism`s that call that water home

You get this effect in plenty of "tropical" locations where there is water is shallow, clean, and the bed is made from white sand. Just because the water near you is polluted doesn`t mean it is everywhere.

This is soooooooo photoshopped! I live in a place similar to crystal clear water. But you should be able to see bottom part of the boat in the water. much like the person on the back of the boat, where you can see part of the legs in the water. Duh!

There`s places like this around the Mediterranean where you get sea colours like that. Although they tend to be more see through than this sea.
well of course you think it`s shopped--when the hell have the iab mods ever done any research before posting something?
I-A-B is mostly user-submitted content. We didn`t write the caption. And no, nor did we do any research on this picture. We all (apart from Fancylad) have full-time jobs apart from I-A-B. If a user submits something, and it`s cool, we post it. We ain`t Snopes.com.

The black spot is not the boat`s shadow. It is something else -- a rock, or a big manta ray, perhaps? -- that is coincidentally shaped like the shadow of the boat. But it isn`t a shadow. It`s a black thing underwater.

Water isn`t clear just because it`s free of pollution. In fact, some kinds of pollution would make the water more clear. Water visibility is low because of sediment and microscopic algae, amongst other things. And no, it isn`t shopped. There are many other pictures like this on the internet.

I think this is in Brazil, but I could be wrong.

Either way, not shopped.

when I went swimming in the Bahamas, the water was so clear and blue you could see straight to the bottom without problems.

The great garbage patch is getting larger and larger. Any companies using waste to produce their products will be quite pleased with it.

In fact this is not an ocean, most probably a sea. Can be Italy or Greece. I`ve see lot of places like that especially in Sardegna, a really cool island in the middle of mediterranean sea. Hmm now that i look better the flag on the boat can be greek.

"no way is there still an ocean like that in 2012. "

That is a remarkably idiotic thing to say. It just goes to broadcast to the world that catbarf is clueless. The oceans are not polluted.

Quick example, just because I know the statistic. Do you think that mercury is a pollution hazard? If we discarded the world`s entire production of mercury in the oceans for 5000 years it would raise the level by 5% of present levels. That is how big the ocean is compared to human capacity to produce pollutants.

Yes, if we really set about trying we could probably start to pollute the oceans in a widespread way (as opposed to locally), but it would take a lot of effort, positive effort to pollute with much of the economy dedicated to deliberate pollution for a long time.

Irradiated water tends to look pretty clear. Because nothing can live in it.

Shopped! There`s no way you could build a boat that big in your garage, eh? It had to be made in a boatbuilding shop or shipyard of some kind.
What?

You can get an image like that in even cloudy water, by using a polarising filter. In a photo like that, most of the sheen comes from the surface.

Sure there is--there are lots of bodies of water that look like that. Here`s Torch Lake, in Michigan:

And I know that`s not a shop, because I`ve been there quite a few times. The color of a lake depends a lot on what the composition of the bottom is--when it`s pure sand, it looks pretty and blue and clear.

Not shopped, there are `oceans` like that still to find. Doesn`t mean they aren`t polluted though.

It`s obviously a floating boat casting its shadow on the water. Anyone with 2 eyes can see this.
