Atlanta pic: WTF? Are you serious? That`s a picture of the Ronald Reagan statue in friggin` Newport Beach, CA! It was nearly pulled down by vandals, NO MENTION OF OCCUPY. Atlanta? Are you bald-faced lying or just plain stupid?
Reagan statue

Fort Collins: Yes, arson is a horrible crime. Yes, the accused was a supporter of Occupy and spent time with them. Does that connect this act with Occupy? No. Was it discussed or planned or even known of by Occupy? No. It was a lone act with no connection, yet to the Rightys it`s a textbook example of "Occupy violence!"

Bottom line: the police state and Right-wing media were tools used to seek out (and often create) violence with which to demonize a peaceful movement that was, frankly, starting to scare the hell out of our oligarch

CJ: Do you really believe everything Fox tells you to? I know this will mean nothing to you but I have to rebut your blatant propaganda.

Oakland pic: That was the Occupy Oakland General Strike on Nov 2nd, around 3,000 protesters PEACEFULLY shut down the Port of Oakland with no damage or arrests. That night, a group of Black bloc anarchists with no ties to Occupy started breaking windows and setting fires half a block away from the park. They were not part of Occupy. When the police came in like stormtroopers, some regrettable violence ensued but the fires and damage were away from the park and were not in any way a part of Occupy. Inconveniently, the crime rate actually dropped when the mayor was claiming Occupy was causing crime!

If there ever was a member of the 99% his name is CrakrJak. There`s a world of people out there that due to politics are unable to see the good in anything unless their leaders champion it. CrakrJak refuses to believe that banks ripped off the world. He`ll make 100 excuses and blame the whole thing on Freddie Mac. So he`ll go on about his life, angry at anyone supporting this, all the while accepting the government handouts he`d surely lose if he had it his way. The one percent want people like him to pay more in taxes, succumb to corporate overlords and die penniless.

@Squirlz & @Crakr: The OWS protests were meant to be peaceful sit-ins, however some did degenerate into violent riots. Another point that ones such as yourself crakr and megrendel like to point out is how there was rape or somesuch in the main OWS movement. The problem is that then you assume that the whole group is at fault, which is a fallacy of composition. There will always be people that want to take advantage of some group for their own means. To deride the whole of the OWS movements from the actions of some people who likely were only there to start trouble to begin with only serves to show that you view the world through elephant glasses. Swing your judgemental pendulum the other way once in a while.

The youth of this nation are not PRODUCTIVE! They all got trophies just for showing up. Listen to Ted, he makes an outstanding point. Be productive.

If everyone was productive communism/socialism would work. But they aren`t/it doesn`t.

I lost my job when I was in my 20`s. I went to the unemployment office because I was pissed at my former employer. I looked around and saw the pathetic excuses for human beings and decided to never set foot inside there again.

Ted is a little extreme, but I can relate. My family did not allow me to be unproductive.

@CrakrJak: I like you, man, but we`re about to have differences in this thread.

How can you characterize the OWS movement as "violent riots"? That`s laughable. It makes me distrust you because it seems you`re trying to rewrite history with such a wildly inaccurate statement.

For the vast majority of Americans, what OWS consisted of was a bunch of idealistic youth protesting corporate takeover of our government and being met, occasionally, with excessive force.

For me, the unforgettable example of the above was the pepper-spraying of students by police at the Univ. of California for the crime of sitting on a sidewalk on their own college campus. (Photo below.)

Correct me if I`m wrong, but I remember you and other right-wingers exulting over this and cheering on the use of force. I found that reaction really disturbing, to be frank.

"Oliver Stone: "Castro is one of the earth`s wisest people, one of the people we should consult."

You gotta do better than that. He as much represents the left as Ted Nugent represents the right. Yet I`ve never seen a democratic president seek the blessing of Oliver Stone, don`t you wish you could say the same of the right and Nugent?

None of the things you listed were republican ideals until recently but ok yeah..
You can thank liberals for medicare, medicaide, social security, end of slavery, women`s rights, civil rights, the end of Vietnam war the killing of OBL, the balancing of the budget after several republicans destroyed it so yeah Dems got lots more to be proud of.

madest-"list a few conservative principals that have been good for America"

"Americans have the right to keep the fruit of their labors." This is the principle that built this country from a frontier to a global powerhouse in a little over a hundred years.

"The right to self-defense", as encapsulated in the 2nd Amendment, is the key to all of the other rights described in the Bill of Rights. Free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and a free press are secured and kept secure by an armed citizenry.

"Personal Responsibility": without this, society will fail. Demostrated by the continuing failure of the `Everyone Gets A Trophy` generation.

"The free market system": we can see what happens when Government tries to regulate the marketplace (Volt, Salyndra etc)

Oliver Stone: "Castro is one of the earth’s wisest people, one of the people we should consult.”

Michael Moore holds up Castro’s health care system as the preeminent example.

QueenZira-"political violence for these past 40 yrs is it has almost exclusively come from the Right"

Let`s see, the heroes of the left are Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, and Ho Chi Minh...the perfect example of `peace`.

Eldridge Cleaver: "Rape is an insurrectianary act."

What about the bombings by the Weatherman? (leftists)

Day of Rage? (leftists)

Watts Riots? (leftists)

John Kennedy as murdered by a Communist (leftist). Robert Kennedy by a Palestinian (leftist).

Army Math Center Bombing? (leftists)

Susan Rosenberg murdered to police officers and security guard? (left-wing radical...pardoned by Clinton).

The shooting of Gabrielle Giffords? Left-winged loon.

REAL peaceful left you go there.

Tell me: are you even remotely in touch of reality? Or do you just let otherd do your thinking for you?

DKos has citations, (And I don`t care how much you hate `Kos) of some RW inspired violence recently, there may even be quite a few tea party related incidents in their long list, I haven`t had the time to comb through it all as of yetCitations

And really the reality of political violence for these past 40 yrs is it has almost exclusively come from the Right, not the Left. That`s not my opinion, that`s the professional opinion of top law enforcement officials nationwide. I can name you at least 20 different kinds of radical RW anti government militia groups who stockpile weapons and none of them are quite like PETA or Code Pink, who essentially are about 20 anti war ladies who dress up in pink feather boas and chant annoying slogans.

I realize that, thus the perenthisis. Was trying to point out that only CERTAIN rhetoric gets any attention.

I realize exactly what the Secret Service`s duties are:
1) To protect teh President, VP, families etc.
2) Safeguard the payment and financial systems of the US.
3) Investigate Credit Card and Computer Fraud
4) Escort Big Donator Party Crashers into state dinners
5) Pick up Hookers (that probably came about during the Clinton admininstration).

Grendel, I`m gonna say this then I`m gonna go to my meeting, so pay attention now, y`hear?

The Secret Service protects the President, just the President, and candidates for President. That`s the only thing they do, it`s the whole point of their existence.

Just because you haven`t heard what DOJ is up to recently, doesn`t mean they aren`t doing their jobs. You likely won`t hear about most of what DOJ does becuase it`s like trying to keep track of every single item of business Congress has. That`s why The Hill isn`t read by average Americans, it`s too damn long & boring.

There are legal standards for what defines Incitement To Violence, Just off the top of my head, I`m pretty sure Art isn`t one of them. Go check it out.

And for every `violent rhetoric` you can point out on the side of the Tea Party, ACTUAL VIOLENCE can be prointed out on the Occupy movement.

Yes, the Tea Party was SO `violent` that it left any area it congregated in CLEANER than they found it.

And the cleanup of the `Peaceful` Occupy actions has run into the millions.

One more thing-I`ve noticed a propensity for folks to immediately shout "FIRST AMENDMENT!1!1" whenever there is criticism of said freely spoken speech.

Understand that those critiquing are not in fact saying what you say should be censored. They`re expressing their opinion of your opinion, free speech protects your ability to say what you think, it doesn`t protect you from criticism of what has been said. Free Marketplace of Ideas and all that...

The Tea Party was in full swing back when I was into partisan politics. The violent rhetoric of some of the people scared me. What pissed me off was Fox News let it get out of hand. Glenn Beck was there leading the charge. The media should be there to have our backs when people are working a crowd into a violent frenzy. Instead they promoted it as being patriotic. I`m not say all the tea Party People are violent. Same as I don`t say they are all racist but there is a dangerous mix in there that is one or both of those things. I`m just glad the movement is dying. it had too many negative undertones.

But I`ve read his remarks in the old dead tree media, and in addition to the previous citation, he says something like, "If Obama is president again in Nov. I`ll be in dead or in jail by this time next yr.," and "If the coyote is in your house peeing on your couch, it`s not the coyote`s fault, he`s just being a coyote. You have to shoot the one who let the coyote in."

He`s a big mouth yes, we all know. But this would never have legs from the other side of the aisle.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. You libtards are ok if the FREE SPEECH fits your mold. Like it or not he has the RIGHT to say what ever he likes. Draft dodger? He was in school. Ask your liberal parents what they did to stay out of SE Asia. And yes I was a hippie and yes I enlisted to serve my country. Getting your info from MoveOn.org is not where it`s at and neither is Fox News. "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son." That`s the political side.
