Tarantino hasnt made a good movie in years. He needs to go back to his pulp fiction/reservoir dogs roots, or stay as a writer/producer.

tedgp: I would have agreed with you if his last movie was Death Proof, but Inglourious Basterds completely redeemed him in my eyes.

    Death Proof was a masterpiece.

    Inglorious Basterds doubly so.

The only weak link in his armor of a resume is Jackie Brown.

    "Death Proof was a masterpiece"

I hated Death Proof so much. I walked out during the coffee shop conversation, walked around the lobby for a bit, and when I came back in they were having the same meaningless conversation.

    "...is there a title?"

It`s called Django Unchained. It`s a spaghetti western about a former slave.

"walked around the lobby for a bit, and when I came back in they were having the same meaningless conversation."

I appreciate dialogue driven story. The character development for all four characters was made right there.

    "I appreciate dialogue driven story."

As do I. I make films myself.

"The character development for all four characters was made right there."

Interesting that we have such a diverging opinion on this, but what drove me crazy was that I saw zero character development in that film. Dialog needs to move a plot forward, and I never felt like the plot was moving. To me the story structure was conversation, conversation, conversation, less than impression action sequence.

But I know some major film nerds who think that movie was brilliant, so to each his own.

It`s one thing to be `influenced`, it`s quite another to beg, borrow and steal the commonplace and banal from said influences, and transform them into Hollywood trite.
Tarantino is vastly over rated as a writer/director, and can`t act worth a damn.

Not a huge fan of QT films. Always seemed like they focused too much on blood and guts and less on making a good movie. Some are pretty good, but others are... Meh.

AuburnJunky, I know that we disagree politically, but, isn`t it interesting that one of my favorite Tarantino flicks is `Jackie Brown`? And I`m not saying that to get a rise out of you, or to be a smartass. I honestly like the flick (although I do really like `Death Proof` and `Inglorious Basterds`, too)!

I think there are some hilarious, sick, incredible Tarantino moments in there (in `Jackie Brown`). The ending, okay, admittedly, a little non-Tarantino, but, otherwise? Outstanding, I think. And in keeping with his other good stuff, IMHO. Oh well, I guess that`s how it goes with art?

I just know, I think it works this way, that his movies are in all random orders, you could be watching the middle, then the beginning, then the end. Something like that. I think. Makes it confusing for some.

It`s QT so the movie will be ... predictable, entirely derivative and massively over-hyped ... and all his slavish fanboys will worship it as the new gospel from their messiah.

It`s QT, so the film will be ridiculously violent, contain random plot elements, and star A+ list talent. 50/50 chance that it will be great.

Smagboy: I never said I didn`t like Jackie Brown.

The caper scene at the near end was executed perfectly. One of my favorite QT signatures is the one shot scene, and this was one of those really good ones.

The best one shot scene he`s ever done though? `4 Rooms`. The only drat up was him forgetting a line, and it was almost 30 minutes long! hahaha.

qt is an over-rated hack, but if you produce anything that appeals to an unsophisticated palate then you wont go far wrong in this life.
other examples; MacDonalds, red-top tabloids, little Britain.

Supposed to be about a freed slave that confronts a slave owner to get his wife back. It`s supposed to be shot akin to a spaghetti western, QT is calling it "a southern" and plans to make at least 3 movies of this new genre.

QT`s choice of cast has me going `Meh`, I really think this one is might be a dog at the box office.

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, DJANGO UNCHAINED stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles - dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South`s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

    (con`t from below)

Django and Schultz`s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of "Candyland," an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie`s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival..

Hey, I like (a fair share of) QT`s films as much as anybody else whose name isn`t Gerry or ddaq89, but this really might be the worst movie poster I`ve ever seen. I can imagine Quentin, wide awake at 4AM, eyes bugged out of his head..."So, so! Here`s the idea, right? We`re going have a chain. A chain going down the middle! And two silhouettes underneath; that`s, like, representative of our two protagonists. Oh, boy, this is gonna be GREAT!" If we can give the man nothing else, he`s certainly enthusiastic...he has the same enthusiasm whether it`s in regard to a new film or a bowl of oatmeal. Anyway, I thought the goal of this site was to help you when you`re bored...I guess I misinterpreted "I Am Bored," because, after seeing that, I certainly am.

Man, I drating hate Quentin Tarantino. He can take his movies and shove them up his ass. Every single one of them is a waste of time, a waste of money, and a waste of pukey feelings rising in your gut.
